2DATA COMMUNICATION AND NETWORK 1. Introduction: In the current context, the Top Network Company has an office in the CBD of Sydney, and this office is three storied building. The organization also has a total 3 department which is allocated in each of the floors of the building. In the building, there are total84workstationswhichareconnectedtotheadministrationdepartmentofthe organisation. Also, 170 workstations are on the marketing floor and on the sales floor there is a total of 255 of workstations. For the local area connection, an IP addressing plan has been designed meeting the requirements of the organisation. All the users of different department able to access the WEB and also can access the email servers we within the DMZ network zone. In this context, user centred design principals have been followed to develop the design of the network. 2. Local Area Network: 2.1 LAN Design of the interconnected devices and the workstations:
3DATA COMMUNICATION AND NETWORK From the above network diagram, it has been shown that the each of the floors of the organization is using a separate switch and this separate switches are connected to a central switch which is very much important for the configuration of the VLAN and the VTP server for each of the department of the organization. Thus the above network is satisfying the network requirement of the Top Network Company. In this network design, the switch configuration with the server helps to transmit the VLAN information to the connected layer 2 switches. In this case, the IP address is subnetted in a total number of three subnets that each of the department will be able to gain different IP address range. Also, the router must be configured in such a way that it assigns IP addresses to all VLAN automatically and for that routers can be configured with DHCP pool. Also, for a stable network connection, it is very much important to eliminate the packet loss risk, congestion and jitter within the network and also the network uptime also need to be increased. To achieve this redundant links need to be used for the network device interconnectivity. In this context, the LAN specifications are very much important in the case of implementation of the protocols of networking and configuration of the network according to the organizational needs. These protocols are needed in the sense of formal policy and the standard comprising procedures creation. Also, this is used for creating the rules and formats for addressing the communication process between the connected network devices in the LAN. End to end process is governed by this protocols which secure and manages the process of data communication. In the designed network the email servers must be configured with the protocol of the SMTP and WEB servers must be configured with
5DATA COMMUNICATION AND NETWORK the protocol of HTTPS which ensures secure transmission of the information among three departments of the organization. There can be errors in the network configuration in different situations, and these errors must be troubleshot properly. For troubleshooting SNMP and the ICMP protocols can be used. In this context, the LAN is required by the organization to connect each of the workstations of the organization mainly for communication purposes. This workstation includes printers, server and computer devices for exchanging information and files between the departments. In this case, a hierarchal network configuration has been followed to develop the LAN connection. This network design tool is very much important for network infrastructure development. This network is developed following the application of the resiliency, flexibility and the modularity so that unexpected situations within the network can be managed. 3. 7DATA COMMUNICATION AND NETWORK the analysis, various network devices have been identified that can fulfil the needs of the network users. Separate application servers are used by each of the department of the organisation for managing the data and to improve the communication efficiency. All the workstations of the organisation used a working internet connection, and due to this, the local area connection has been developed in such a way that it can meet the requirements of the organisation. IP addressing scheme has been used in this case for connecting the workstation with each of the subnets of the organizations. Hardware is a very much essential part for network development, thus in this discussion, important hardware has been identified, and justification for choosing those hardware has been given.
