AI Summary
This report presents a data mining analysis of data security challenges faced by BSI Teradata, addressing issues of credit card fraud and passenger misconnections at AirLondon. The analysis reveals breaches due to lack of security on the oracle database. The report investigates the business problems, including customer complaints about fraudulent charges and system compromises, and identifies issues such as poor customer satisfaction, misconnections, and real-time factor capture. Proposed solutions include PCI DSS compliance, firewall installation, employee training, and Protegrity installation to protect the Oracle database. For AirLondon, solutions involve rebooking sophistication, real-time data usage, and capturing real-time factors through a customer application template. The conclusion highlights the importance of data security for designers and end-users, emphasizing that well-designed databases improve customer satisfaction by providing prompt updates and addressing complaints effectively. Real-time data is crucial for enhancing client satisfaction by addressing customer complaints and operational efficiency.

Background
The BSI Teradata represents an investigation on the data systems security challenges that
led to complaints by the clients as far as fraudulent charges on credit card issues are concerned.
Also, issues of passenger’s misconnection were reported to BSI.
The Business Case
Two main cases have been investigated by the BSI which include the case of credit card
breach and misconnecting the passengers by the AirLondon which have been operating different
flights for about three years.
Business Problems
Grassroot Bank- customers reach out to the CEO to complain of the fraudulent charges
and queries on the credit cards issued. It seems that the BSI systems have been compromised and
that some data hacking has taken place. Also, there are likely occurrences of internal security
issues as well as trust issues with the security officers. Furthermore, the BSI has adopted
different styles of detecting systems issues by investigating both the front and end systems after
which a comparison is made based on the results.
For instance, at the front-end systems, no external instructions at the website with a good
back up system including a storage system. However, for the back-end system, it was found that
attempts of external hacking took place. Moreover, there are issues with data center especially
systems log and backups where after audit someone changed the data center operational data
stores, (Engemann, & Miller, 2017). For instance, only the SQL data servers were secured while
the output databases were not. The analysis found out that the hacking was executed by Joe
Nagel after breaching the data security systems which was major as a result of lack of security on
the oracle on the client’s database environment and this resulted in several complaints by the
customers on the fraudulent charges.
For AirLondon, four main problems identified were poor customer satisfaction as
evidenced in the ratings, misconnect situations at Frankfurt hub, problems especially re-
accommodating four passengers and the fact that only two seats left on a certain day for London.
Besides, there are some extra charges customers pay when they book through the web as well as
when booking the last minutes. It was also observed that other real-time factors affecting
customers were not being captured due to poor record capturing.
Besides, identifying the client’s related issues as far as the airline is concerned. For
instance, customers give comments through the web or call directly to the people within the call
center. For instance, one of the customers, Steffi” made a statement that, “worst airline ever, will
never fly again with you.” Therefore, it is important to investigate why the complaint ab
Nd best way to solve the issues.
Proposed Solution overview
To enhance security systems PCI DSS adhered to annual audit certification as well as
getting approvals from Qualified Security Assessor. Reduce data hacking by the adopting
Fireworks installation. Dealing with internal breaching issues and trust issues are that officers are
highly trained and have limited access to other sensitive data points. Moreover, to ensure that the
security on the oracle on the Protegrity’s database environment is protected, the PCI DSS
proposed to install protegrity to protect the Oracle data system center as well as conducting
another full PCI audit.

Some of the proposed solutions for the AirLondon identified issues include achieving a
new level of rebooking sophistication, acquiring and using real-time enterprise data, assess
additional factors for rebooking decisions and use the Frankfurt flight as a test case scenario.
To ensure that AirLondon records other real-time factors, the designing of the customer
application template provides the provision of capturing these real-time factors which include but
not limited to missing connections updates, booking status including rebooking in progress, other
passengers like infants in the arms, cost, bags loaded and their delivery status in terms of time
and places, (Januszewski, 2004).
Conclusion
In conclusion, data security issues remain a big threat to both designers and end-users. It
is true that the designers at times have been at the forefront to hack data center systems and that
the end-users also have weak systems that make data hacking possible. Besides, designing a
good database for both customers and owners of AirLondon companies improves operations thus
leading to client satisfaction. For instance, clients are more satisfied when they get prompt
updates on application status, delivery of goods, delay updates and general costs of other
passengers like infants. Real-time data improves client satisfaction especially when it is used to
address complaints from customers.
