I am going to place my opinion against the topic justice requires us to increase
spending on aged care services. My learned friend has vouched his opinion for the topic
stating the economic benefits of improving the overall framework for the aged care services.
However, the point made is justified by I think financial contribution must be done in all
aspects of the healthcare and not only in the aged care service. According to the news report
published by ABC News Australia (2018), childcare in Australia is poor and lacks the basic
setup to deliver comprehensive healthcare. Australian Institute of Health Welfare (2017)
highlighted that there is an increased rate of childhood obesity is a growing concern in
Australia. Proper improvement in the healthcare awareness program will help to reduce the
chances of childhood obesity and thereby reducing the chances of developing other physical
co-morbidities. Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (2018) also suggest that there still
exists an alarming health inequality among the indigenous and non-indigenous population of
Australia. Closing the Gap policy though implemented, it is failing to generate promising
results in reducing health in-equalities in Australia. The bio-ethics of justice states that it is
the duty of the healthcare professionals to do justice to all the patient population irrespective
of their age, gender, social and ethical background. Thus in order to promote comprehensive
health and well-being I think the funds raised by the government must be channelized in each
and every aspect of healthcare. In order to increase the overall life expectancy of the older
adults and to do full justice behind the refurbishment of the aged healthcare system, the
quality of the life and the lifestyle habits must be improved during the early childhood.
Abiding by the healthy lifestyle habits like diet and physical exercise will no substance abuse
will help to reduce the chances of developing physical co-morbidities and thereby helping to
improve the concept of healthy aging and increase lifespan (Martin et al., 2014).
The channelization of the funds in other aspects of healthcare like in the pediatric
healthcare service and aboriginal healthcare service is justified under the bio-ethics of non-

maleficence. Non-maleficence signifies doing no harm or inflicting least possible harm in
order to achieve beneficial outcomes. Such in order to improve the well-being of the overall
population, the channelization of the funds must be done in all aspect of the healthcare
services (Rothman, 2017). Moro Visconti (2014) stated that value for money is the principal
aspect of both the public and private sector healthcare. This helps to provide a stable
framework for the overall healthcare infrastructure. Mosadeghrad (2014) stated that there are
several factors that influence the healthcare service and this include effective cooperation
between the healthcare service provides and patient under the supportive environment. Thus
apart from spending or channelization of the additional funds for improving the aged care
service, proper focus must be given to train the nursing professionals in soft skills like
effective communication skills (verbal and non-verbal communication skills). Effective
communication skills will help the nurses to develop therapeutic relationships with the older
adults and increasing the probability of improved identification of the clinical priority and
development of the person-centered care plan. The effective communication skill training of
the nursing professionals along with training in the emotional intelligence will help the nurse
to effectively interact with the primary care givers or the family members of the older adults.
Interaction with the family members of the older adults will help to increase the family based
awareness about health aging and importance of spending time with the family members will
help to improve the mental well-being of the older adults (Bramhall, 2014).
Under the social context, I would like to highlight that apart from spending for
improving the overall healthcare service quality for the older adults, special focus must be
given towards improving the social life of the older adults.
The statistics highlighted by Australian Human Right Commission (2019) reports that
by the end of 2050, one quarter of the Australian population will be aged above 65 years and
a decline in the younger population. However, the increase in the rate of the older adult
