Schaper et al. (2014) stated that a business intends to grow in desire of obtaining greater
profits, effective brand reputation and better returns for shareholders. This process is also not
possible without the collaboration of the suppliers and investors. However, planning is required
prior starting the work of projects and this planning comprised of the selection of the location,
justification for the selection of the location along with some statistical forecasting of the profit
through which the idea can be gathered whether or not the projects will be profitable.
In this business report, the planning for the establishment of the two BIG tourist
attraction will be illustrates along with the details of the how these locations meet the minimum
criteria that is fulfillment of significant tourism interest in local government area and presence of
appropriate transport facilities for tourists. The two locations that are selected for the plan is
Perth and Darwin and the two projects that will be selected for these organizations are BIG

2.1 Project Selection
The BIG project always presented a unique idea to represent the shopping complex that
not only impresses the tourist to visit the place but also highlight the ability to combine the
architectural knowledge with creativity. Wang et al. (2016) stated that creativity in architecture
attracts more people and the chances for obtaining more profitability can be enhanced. The two
projects that are selected are BIG Panda and Big Banyan. The BIG Panda is selected as the
shape of the project because people love this creature for their careless attitude and distinctive
eyes that make them look cuddly (BBC News, 2018).

The shape of the banyan is selected as it symbolizes a place, where many people can take
shelter. From this project, it can be easily demonstrated that the place is perfect for collaborating

and harmony of people from different culture and locality. People can come there and purchase
for their desired products while experiencing the unique interior system.
2.2 Location selection
The BIG Panda project is planned to be located in Perth, which is located on Australia’s
southwestern coastline and is the capital of Western Australia. In the last few years, the business
growth in Perth become very high due to the acceptance of utilization of new technology,
development of better communication and valuing innovation (Bærenholdte et al., 2017).
According to governing statistics there are total 2,171,607 in Australia in which 218,152 is
present in Western Australia (Smallbusiness.wa.gov.au, 2018). In addition to that, Perth has been
internationally recognized as one of the world’s top ten livable cities from the time 2004
(Perth.wa.gov.au, 2018). This city contributed to the state’s economy worth of $10.1 billion from
which $2.4 billion is the coming from the source international visitor (Perth.wa.gov.au, 2018).
The government report shows that they are planning to attract 100,000 Chinese visitors by the
year 2020 that can contribute $500 million to the Western Australia (Perth.wa.gov.au, 2018).
Since, China is associated with the protection of Giant Panda and there will be greater chance for
the place to get attention. Moreover, the population growth is also plays an important in gaining
customer’s preference. This can be seen through the forecast of the government in the City of
Perth which is 28,326 in 2018 and estimated to be 40,903 by 2036 (Perth.wa.gov.au, 2018).

The location for the project BIG banyan is selected in Darwin, coastline of the Northern
Territory. The reason for the selection of this place is that it is the country’s major cities and also
has grown to a transportation hub due to the close proximity of other countries in the Indian
Ocean. The government report shows that the number of tourism nights has been increased over
the years and both international and domestic visitor also increased (Darwin.nt.gov.au, 2018).

The minimum criterion that must be fulfilled by the project is significant tourism interest
present in local government area. The local government of Australia focuses on ‘manmade

recognized local tourism organization, open on weekends and at least between 10am and 4pm
and clean and well presented (Tourism.wa.gov.au, 2018). Another criterion that is more
emphasized is the accessibility and security of the location of the attraction. Both the city that is
Darwin and Perth is easily accessible and the project location in the main city will also give
advantage to the business along with the benefit that all the customers can easily identify the
project from the outlook. The two projects will also be incorporated by technological
advancements like automated system in lifts, escalators, kiosks, supporting robots, wheelchairs
for physically related people and also have Wi-Fi enabled architecture. The security of the
location is also a main criterion of local government area. The highways and main roads and the
street on which the project will reside will have security camera and police inform room for
handling adversity like high traffic congestion and problem like burglary, fire and accidents.
