Though change is a welcome thing in life as it breaks the monotony, there are certain context wherein change can be devastating thing. Climate Change is a grave concern facing the modern day world. The temperature of the Earth is rising continuously and the rate of escalation has increased in the past decade. With the rising temperature, the snow peaks of the mountains around the world are melting as a faster rate too. The melting of the snow has led to the rise in the average sea level, and the day will not be far when the major cities situated in the coastal areas around the world will submerge soon under the sea. To fight climate change, the public has to be made aware of the devastating impact of the problem anda collective effort is needed from every community around the world to tackle this problem. A human induced problem The various human activities around the world has led to the rise in the pollution levels. The industrialisation and advent of technology has led to all kinds of pollution on this planet. The rise in air pollution is the prime reason for the rise in temperature in the Earth’s atmosphere. The forecast is that the increasing temperature of Earth is expected to surpass the current 2°C mark. IPCC forecasted that in the coming century the temperature of the world might escalate by 1.1–6.4°C and sea level by 28–79 cm.(Stephenson, Newman and Mayhew, 2010) Impact of Climate Change

The impact of climate change could be seen in a diverse range in the human life, from the health aspect to the social and political scene. The rising temperature of Earth could be detrimental to human’s health and can lead to discomfort for many people. Further, sun strokes is also another health hazard for many. The consistent heat waves and disruption in the rainfall pattern can result in famines and adversely impact the crop cultivation, which in turn could affect the people’s lifestyle. Socially, the impact of climate change could result in disruption of people from their homes and also adversely impact their standard of living. As the sea levels are rising all around the world, numerous coastal cities and islands are getting submerged under the water. The people living in these coastal lands are getting displaced as they lose their homes. The cost of relocating the displaced people bears high on the community, and leads to rising poverty in the particular country. The impact of climate change could also be witnessed in the form of water pollution and the shortage of pure drinking water. The fluctuations in the climate has its impact on the food production, transportation and other infrastructure in the society. Due to the unplanned floods, various facilities and infrastructure of a country gets damaged(Hope-project.org, 2020). Such damage puts financial burden on the local administration and adversely impacts the development of the country. The developing countries believe that they are in a disadvantaged position to curb their industrial activities to control pollution, and want the developed countries to take the major initiatives as they are in a superior and secure position. Strategies to control climate change Controlling the rising temperature of Earth requires a collective effort from different community in the society as well on an individual level too. On an individual level, people can reduce the amount of waste produced in their household by reusing and recycle things.
Sustainable living should be adopted by people to ensure that the resources are utilised to their optimum use. Energy should be conserved and saved when not needed. On a community level, the industries should make a conscious effort to treat the hazardous wastes produced before disposing, and not dump them in the water bodies or in the open. The industries should be encouraged to shift to renewable sources of energy and minimum use of fossil fuels should be done. Additionally, the water consumption should be done wisely and not wasted. Rainwater harvesting could be practiced in every community so as to mitigate the problem of water shortage. Conclusion The impact of climate change seems to be never ending. The adverse impact upon the health, financial and social life of humans are well evident. The rising temperature creates havoc in the form of food and water shortage and also drives people out of their home in search of land and living. However, with conscious effort, both in the individual as well community level it could be curbed. Further, even the government of different countries need to take adequate measures to lessen the burden on the environment.
