DECONSTRUCTING A NEWS OF GOOGLE AND LOOKER MERGER2 Introduction A news article about Google announcing its merger with Looker which is a hot analytics start-up.Being a start-up, it has raised more than $280 million. Google is reimbursing $2.6 billion for the company’s privilege and accumulating the company to its Google Cloud. Thomas Kurian who handles the system of Google clouds is claiming the merger of two companies is going to bring solution of the data analytics for the consumers. The combining of the companies willprovides an end on analytics stage to join, accumulate, analyse and imaginedataacrossGoogleCloud,AWS,Azure, andISVapplications.Itgivesan opportunity for Google to come ahead in the infrastructure market and build-up a hard track record. CEO of Looker, Frank Bien in his interview discussed about the growth of the company and how its revenue is increasing. his aim of building the company was to disrupt the staid network of data visualization tools and that the companies were being enforced to build a solution on. They wanted to expand and rationalise a new platform (Miller, 2019). The author of the news rereport who discussed about this merger did not provide a well- constructed conclusion in the report. Utility of deconstruction According to Farley, et. al (2013) deconstructing this news was very important as a textual criticism will explain the viewpoints of the author and the way he is trying to support the news article. As deconstruction is way of restoring language within connection between thoughts and reality. As opined byDvorkin, (2018)hence, deconstruction of this article will help understand the authors thought process while writing this article and his total relying on other news article for valid information.
DECONSTRUCTING A NEWS OF GOOGLE AND LOOKER MERGER3 Weakness of the source The main weakness of the source was that the article was not posed in a constructive manner and the viewpoint of the author was not proper portrayed (Baym, & Jones, 2013). The author just stated the viewpoints of the Google cloud handler and the CEO of Looker. He did not analyse the people of employees who will be affected by the merger. The entire article was just and interview of the heads of two companies merging. The article did not even have any proper conclusion. It just stated that this deal is going to be laid open to regulatory sanction and is anticipated to close later if everything goes well according to plan. This conclusion provided by the reported, makes the reader wonder if or not the companies have been merged. This does not provide the readers a closure they demand after reading any news article. News article should be explained in such a way that it provides reader with all the details about the claimed news. It just should not leave the readers hanging and should provide with all the information they need to acquire. Recommendation The reported should have given his viewpoints as a concluding remark which would have helped the readers to understand the article better. Any report or news without a constructive conclusion is said to be incomplete. A conclusion restates the arguments and reminds the readers of the strength of the main argument. A conclusion also reiterates the primary evidence which was supporting the report or news. The conclusion has a final say about the issue and must synthesize the thoughts of the reporters. Improvement of source article. The recommendation of providing a constructive conclusion by the authors would have given closure to the readers. According toHermans, & Gyldensted, (2019) this will influence the readers experience of reading the article. A well-constructive conclusion will provide a
DECONSTRUCTING A NEWS OF GOOGLE AND LOOKER MERGER4 connection to help the reader make the transition back to their regular lives. This will make the readers understand the importance of the news. An article’s conclusion makes the reader create a last impression about the news. This assignment proved to be very effective as it helped me grasp knowledge about effective news and the idea how to end the news segment to make the readers more attentive. It also made me understand that just preparing a random article is not going to prove any agenda. According toTrilling, Tolochko, & Burscher, (2017) making an article or news require a lot of critical thinking. The news reported or magazine should not be biased as it creates a wrong impression in the eyes of the general public. It should also have a fair view point regarding the news and must construct the news accordingly. The reporter reporting the news must analyse the outcome and how will it impact the people.
