INTRODUCTION
Artists is recognised as a person those who creates paintings as profession. They are also
an individual who makes sculptures. Artist has creative skills as well as great imaginations. A
true artist produce realistic effect in the paintings. They utilise light shade for giving the realistic
look to the paintings. The artists paint picture using the tiny brush strokes. In addition to this, a
true artist express something through their paintings which make them different from other
artists. These people create such drawing or painting which has high aesthetic value. There are
different types of artists such as fine art artists, these people generally have focus on raising their
status.
The report have focus on analysing the background information as well as art produced
by five different popular artists these are Phoebe Dickinson, Jonathan Yeo, Nicky Phillips, James
Hayes and Jemma Phipps. Study also have emphasizes on identifying the techniques utilised by
different artist for painting.

Phoebe Dickinson : She is popular artist and has studio in London. Phoebe Dickinson is also
has her studio in Gloucestershire. Dickinson has held three successful solo shows, which she
organised personally. Phoebe was selected for the sky arts programme which was organised in
conjunction with National Portrait Gallery for giving awards to portrait artist of the year in year
2013. In present year approx. 2,667 artists have submitted their portrait for BP awards which is
recognised as prestigious annual award programme for rewarding the portrait painters worldwide
(Court, 2017). Phoebe Dickinson has been awarded with BP Portrait Award in 2018 at the
National Portrait Gallery for her painting of Cholmondeley children at Houghton Hall. Dickinson
continues exhibiting her crafts in London.

Jonathan Yeo : He is basically British artist. Yeo learned to draw paintings himself. Jonathan
Yeo develops interest of painting when he was suffering from the deadly disease Hodgkin's. In
2000, He became popular. Jonathan Yeo popular for his contemporary realist portrait. He has
now achieved leading position in this field. The painting created by Jonathan Yeo has been
exhibited in art galleries as well as museums worldwide. A collage created by Yeo in 2007 has
been popular artists. Jonathan Yeo is now popular for experimental as well as traditional
portraiture. Yeo has explored more abstract themes in his series of paintings looking at cosmetic
surgery and increasingly his portraits are addressing wider concepts as well as themes within the
paintings’ story (Yuh, Hayes and Conway Jr,2017). In 2013, Jonathan Yeo has to face criticism
and during that time some of his painting were disliked by the public. Jonathan Yeo in 2016,
started experimenting with 3 D scanning as well as printing for making self portrait. He has also
worked with google company in order to create a virtual reality drawing software. Jonathan Yeo
has revealed his large-scale sculptural work in December 2017 which he has created utilising

Nicky Phillips : She is contemporary artists. Nicky Phillips is also a British artist. In year 2010,
Nicky has painted the first double portrait of Princes William and Harry. She belongs to the
artistic family. She was among the one of the artists whose paintings were chosen to hang at the
BP Exhibition at the national portrait gallery in London. She was given contract by Royal
commission to draw painting for the queen. Nicky Phillips was given with the authority to make
paining for Princess William, she is princess of Wales. Painting of Nicky Phillips is highly
inspired by Graham Sutherland Gallery, which is located near her family house. She has
completed her training of artistic work in Florence. After returning to London, she built a
successful career as a portrait and still life painter. In 22015, She sold her approx. 70 painting
during first week of exhibition (Barreto and Lieban, 2017.). Nicky Phillips family member are
water colourist and they often went on painting holidays.

James Hayes : He is the artist who worked in Hong Kong as a government servant for thirty
two years. James Hayes is the owner of rt Glass Company in Pine Bluff. He has completed his
degree in art field from Hendrix College in Conway Arkansas in 1988. James Hayes has great

talent. After struggling a lot he discovered glass-blowing at the Arkansas Arts Centre Museum
School. He also participated in various exhibitions organised in United state. James Hayes has
got invitation for designing Christmas tree ornament for the White house. In addition to this,
James also got an opportunity of designing gifts for Governors Conference in 2003. He has been

Jemma Phipps :She was born in 1977. Jemma Phipps has completed her training related to
artistic work from the classical drawing school Located in Italy. The picture painted by Jemma

technique. Jonathan Yeo Utilises expressive strokes and bold patchworks of colour for making
painting. It is a style he takes to an extreme, conjuration a human presence with the lightest of
touches. Jonathan has unique quality to which he utilises while making painting which enables
