Introduction
The public that we are going to discuss in this assignment is the delay in the hearing of the court
issues in Canada. It is believed by the citizens of Canada that they live in the safe communities in
the country like Canada and the same is expected from the judicial system of Canada that it helps
the citizens to be safe. But according to the latest news it has been observed that the justice
system of Canada got a swift kick from the Senate and the Supreme Court (Carrington, S, A, & M,
2013). It is seen that the justice system of Canada is very slow and is backlogged not only this
justice system of Canada has become a system of injustice. If we try to understand the issue in
simple terms than it can be said that it takes too long for getting the trial of the criminal cases.
This problem was recognized by the Supreme Court in the year 2017 in the case of RV Jordan
in which the accused dealer had to wait for four long years just for the court trial (Allen, 2017).
Historical Background
This debate is basically about the public issue that is being faced by Canada. The Canadian
Judicial system has become so slow that it took about years for the accused to wait for their trial.
Most of the adult criminal courts were heard in the provincial courts. The median amount of time
that the court took for completing the charge was 112 days. According to the Section 11(b) of
the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedom it is the fundamental right of the accused person
to get the timely resolution of the criminal court matters. It has been observed over the years that
it is very important to provide timely resolutions for the court case in order to meet the needs of
the victim, society and the accused (Cromwell & Anstis., 2016).
Various Stakeholders affected by delay in case trials:
The long duration of time that is taken by the courts to bring the cases for trial affects badly the
victim as well as the accused. Not only the victims and the accused are highly affected but this
issue affects the society as a whole as well (Currie, 2013). So, it is very important that the court
brings the cases to trial on time so that who are responsible for breaking the law are held
responsible for their actions and are punished for the same.There are various stakeholders and
