 There are various kinds of health promotion

health of people in UK as well as in other
countries.
 Drugs is one of the main and serious health
issues whose consumption is increasing year
by year.
 Drugs impact both physical and mental health
of people in a drastic manner.

Rationale and Background
 Use of drugs is a serous public health issue because it can result in degradation of
physical and mental health of an individual and can result in development of many
other health issues among people.
 Drugs is one of the main reasons because of which most of the mental health issues
exist.
 Not only this, this issue is important to be focused upon because various cases have
been identified in which due to drugs overdose or excessive misuse of drugs death of an
individual has been reported.it is one of the main reason because of which health
promotion intervention of drugs in UK is required to be developed so that misuse of
drugs in UK can be reduced and its effect on both physical and mental health can also
be reduced

NEEDS ASSESSMENT
 Need assessment of drug health issue clearly helps in understanding that there are gaps
within current service provision, proper training is required to be provided to health and
social care institutes so that they can proper accurate treatment to patients with drug
health issue.
 As per the need assessment it has been identified that there are various kinds of
treatment programs that have been developed that provide effective treatment to people
who comes forward for treatment for drug misuse so that their mental and physical
health can be improved.
 But there are no programs that targets upon generating awareness among people so that
people become aware of negative health impacts of using drug upon health so that
people themselves start taking initiatives of reducing excessive usage of drugs. This can
directly help in dealing with drugs public health issue.

AIM, OBJECTIVE AND OUTLINE OF
OVERALL INTERVENTION
Aim and Objectives
Main aim of this assessment is to identified ways in which drugs health issue in UK can be
tackled such that its negative physical and mental health impacts can be lowered.
Main objectives of this health promotion intervention are as follows:
 To develop an awareness program in order enhance awareness of drastic health effects
due to drugs misuse among people between age group of 30 years to 50 years.
 To identify ways in which effectively of drug treatment provided to people can be
enhanced.
 To evaluate ways in which provision of development and training to staff members
involved in drug treatment can resolve drug as a public health issue.
 To evaluate effectiveness of self- management techniques upon people suffering from
health issues due to drug misuse.

 Planning or Outline of intervention
 This assessment will focus upon development of an awareness
program among people of UK and among staff members of
health and social care organization so that negative impact of
drugs upon both physical and mental health of people of UK
can be resolved.
 In order to successfully implement this intervention this
awareness program will include, provision of education to
target population of UK.
 It will help people to understand why drug public health issue
is important to be focused upon, impact of this issue upon both
physical and mental health and ways in which it can result in
degradation of overall mental health of an individual. In this
program ways in which training provided to staff members
proofing treatment to drug addicts can also be improvised such
that effectiveness of resolving this issue can be enhanced

 There are many different kinds of theories and models that can be used for provision of
support to health promotion and disease interventions.
 These theories and models can be used in planning intervention for understanding,
explaining and bringing changes within health behaviour of people as well as for
guiding identification, development, and implementation of interventions.
 It is important to adopt a proper and appropriate theory of model for planning and
implementation of intervention so that effective development and implementation of
intervention for resolving identified public health issue can be done in a proper manner.

Social cognitive theory
 Self- efficiency: People who have full control over their desire, needs and action can develop
positive behaviour that can help them to bring changes within their behaviour and reduce usage of
drugs.
 Behavioural capability: in order to bring positive changes within behaviour it is important to
understand ad develop skills that can help and support them in development of positive behaviour
 Expectations: Outcome of behaviour change within people is identified that drugs consumption
among people will get reduced
 Expectancies: Overall health outcome and quality of life of drugs misuse patients will get enhanced
 Self- Control: target population has self- control on themselves and upon their behaviour, regular
monitoring will be done
 Observational learning: target population will be observed in order to ensure that there are
performing or modelling in their desired behaviour
 Reinforcements: target population who have brought changes within their behaviour and contributed
in resolving this health issue will be appraised

APPROACHES APPLIED TO
INTERVENTION
 For applicability of preventive health education intervention educational approach will
be adopted where different seminars and workshops will be conducted within hospitals,
social care homes, and other public places where probability of people using drugs is
high.
 This will help in reaching target population in an effective manner.
 In this, seminars individual people suffering from drug misuse issue and want to bring
improvement within their overall health will be provided with advice as well.
 Staff members working upon providing treatment and support to target population will
be provided with skill training and education upon ways in which they can enhance
quality of life of such people and bring positive changes within their behaviour.

EVALUATION
For evaluation of this health teaching and education intervention following
evaluation will be done:
 Evaluation of process of intervention implementation will be evaluated in order to
identify whether intervention has been implemented in step- by- step format. This will
be done by continuously monitoring intervention implementation by head of healthcare
sector organization.
 Feedback form health education workers will be taken in order to evaluate whether
intervention is being implemented properly and whether desired results are being
achieved or not.
 Overall health of target population will be evaluated in order to identify whether
improvement within their health, overall behaviour is being improved or not. Addition
of people towards drugs is getting reduced or not will also be evaluated.

CONCLUSION
 Form the above presentation it has been summarized that there are various kinds of
health promotion issues that are impacting overall health of people of UK. Drugs is one
of those public health issues which is impacting overall physical and mental health of
people of UK drastically.
 It is important to develop an appropriate intervention with the help of which negative
health effects of this issue upon individuals can be resolved. For implementation of
appropriate health issue educational approach has been used.
 Educational approach has successfully helped in development of an effective health
teaching and education intervention of target population so that its effect upon target
population can be enhanced.
 It has further been concluded that it is important to adopt appropriate evaluation
method for evaluating success of intervention implemented at different phases such as
during process of intervention implementation, achievement of outcome.
