order words, CSR is a managerial concept where companies make efforts to adopt business
practices, which are beneficial for society as well as for the environment

it is somewhere becomes necessary for the businesses to perform their corporate social
responsibility in an effective manner as the same can lead many advancements for them. The
chosen business for this report is Delta Hotels by Marriot. In the presented essay, the focus will
be made upon the business practice adopted by this business and the benefits resulted thereon.
Delta Hotels is a chain of hotels and resorts that are owned by the company named
Marriott International. In the year 1962 a person, William Pattison founded this chain in
Richmond, British Columbia. Delta Hotels is a brand, which is wholly owned by Marriot and is
mainly located in Canada (Usatoday.com, 2018). Moving towards the social responsibility
pursued by this business, this is to be stated that the same has recently launched one of the most
ambitious suitability programs of the country, which is well known as “Green Delta”. The
business stated that the employees of every single hotel in the chain are changing their way of
working in order to meet the targets set out under Green Delta Program and is trying their best to
follow the sustainability practices. To discuss that what actually this program is, this is to answer
that under this program every hotel of the chain will decrease it is water and energy consumption
in addition to the carbon emission by 30 percent in the period of coming five years. Apart from
decreasing the consumption of natural resources, hotels will also increase their waste diversion
by 25 percent. It is not for the first time when Delta hotels initiated a program in the sector of
social responsibility. Before this too, many of the hotels of the chain initiated suitability practices
which are positively significant. Some of these activities are mentioned ad hereunder:-

Delta Chelsea made it is effective efforts to promote environmental safety. Since 2005,
this hotel is involved in the practice of waste management and by the year 2010, the same
was successful to divert it is 82% waste towards the recycling. Further, the hotel made
investment in low-flow fixtures, ozone friendly chillers and high-efficiency boilers and
by using the same it has reduced the electricity and water consumption up to a significant

Another hotel of the chain “Delta Montreal” also set a good example of best social
responsibility practices for the society. This hotel has started providing VIP parking to
those guests who use a hybrid vehicle.
Delta Centre-Ville is also one out of many hotels of Delta hotels Chain and the same is
installing water towers and chillers in order to generate cold water for ventilation
systems. This practice is expected to bring a positive result on the energy efficiency of
the hotel. This hotel engaged in the practice of diverting leftover food to Dans la Rue and
La Tablee des Chefs, and in this manner the same is effectively managing it is food waste

by reviewing the practices and initiatives taken by different hotels of Chain, this can be stated
that the studied business successfully exhibits all of these principles. Every effort made by these

be done at every level and in every process. At last, according to the principle of circularity, the
ideas adopted by Delta hotels are possible to perform in a circle and the same are not a one-time
task. Therefore, to conclude that Delta hotels are adopting the practices which are successful at
the level of CSR 2.0 Principles.
