INTRODUCTION
Reflection is a very important aspect of learning because it helps the individual in assessing its
own capabilities and drawbacks. By doing this, one can identify the ways for improving the
insufficient skills. This presentation will explain the concept of reflection in case of health
and social care services which are to be provided at Royal London hospital of London. It will
further focus on explaining the various tools and models of learning reflection.

The purposes of reflection in health and social care practice

Reflection is a very crucial element in the health social care practices. It improves the ways in which these practices
are performed by the people. This concept is intimately connected to the learning from experience, in which an
individual think about what actions are done by them and what happened and decide from that what they would do
differently next time.

Value and ways of reflective practices
Reflective practices are very important in the present
business scenario. It no only helps in understanding the
strength and weakness of the individual but is also helpful in
improving the capabilities of the people.
 Encourages innovation : By learning reflective
practices, individual will be able to learn and create
experiments with new and innovative ideas. With this,
they will think more creatively, imaginatively,
resourcefully and will be able to adopt new methods of
learning and thinking in their skills and way of

KOBL'S Model
This model was developed by David A. Kolb in 1984 and deals in experiential learning theory which supplies
a holistic model of learning and emphasizes on the importance of role of experience in the procedure of
learning. According to this model, it has been argued that the individual learns various skills from the every
day life as well.

initiated with the concrete experiences in which the
individuals, groups or organization are assigned with

 Reflective observation : In this stage, when an event
has already taken place, then it becomes important to
think the situation in detail and understand the

will be taken into more detail with thorough understanding and interpretation. In this process, the situation

conceptualization and is more relevance when formalized. This can also be approached in a manner of

where one is required to stay circulating in an individual field of interest and as technology and
information change in society.

CONCLUSION
From this presentation, it has been concluded that reflection is important not only in professional life but also
in every day activities. It helps in analyzing the behavior and attitude of a person in a professional field.
There are various reflective practices that are discussed and importance of reflection has been understood
with the help of personal and professional development concept. Further more, the KOLB model was used
to give thorough understanding of learning process.
