INTRODUCTIONA bidirectional link has been established between depression and diabetes in individuals ofall ages. The chances of developing diabetes increase in a person who is already suffering fromdepression and vice versa. The overall study of depression and advanced complications of diabeteswas based on a research conducted by different researchers. The study was conducted by aprospective cohort study design which included diabetes patients from a primary care centre. Thereport will mainly focus on study questions, designs and methods used to complete the research.Results and implications drawn from the study will also be evaluated for accuracy and precision.The overall study will be critically appraised to infer findings and conclusions.Study QuestionAccording to the study, an appropriate study or research question must have been formulatedbut the research article lacks the study question in it. The objective states that the examination or analyses of depression with theincreased risk of micro vascular and macro vascular complications among the patients who haveencountered ‘type 2’ diabetes. Astudy question must have been based on the development of complication which are associated withmajor and minor depression problems in all the individualsStudy DesignA prospective longitudinal cohort study was conducted to analyse the association betweendepression and ‘type 2’ diabetes in patients. They were selected from epidemiological follow-updata between the years 2000-2002. All the participants who were selected for further research wereadults who were reported to receive primary care in group health diabetes centre in Seattle. Thisarea was mainly chosen due to socio-economic, racial and ethnic and diverse people residing in thatarea. The members who were included in the group health diabetes registry were individuals whohave been under the eligibility criteria of patient encountering several issues related to diabetes.Patients who have prescribed insulin, oral hypoglycaemic agents were also enclosed in thisresearch. Further, the study also considered individuals who have been diagnosed on the basis offasting plasma glucose levels and random sugar levels in hospitals or different clinics in Seattle.Like all other research, this study was also based on some eligibility criteria which helped inincluding and excluding patients who did not meet the eligibility condition. Survey reports whichwere formed after the process of evaluation was mailed and informed to all the 9,063 patients whowere considered as potentially eligible patients for performing the research. Unfortunately, totalnumber of 1,222 patients was excluded according to the eligibility conditions. The reason behindthe exclusion was reported to be death of the patient, their disenrollment o from the participation
