DESCRIPTIVE ESSAY ON MY FAVORITE PLACE
Looking back to my childhood days, just like others, I too had a favourite place and I still
cherish the moments I spent there and the memories I gathered in that place, along with my
parents those special people, those evocations were all priceless. My favourite place has always
been my uncle's house, which was situated in a small town, which not as crowded as the cities
we are living in. As a child, I and my parents used to visit that place at least once every year
during my summer holidays. I used to wait the entire year to go there and meet my uncle and my
siblings and enjoy my vacation. That place was my favourite for more reason than one. The
essence of the atmosphere of that small town was delightful. The culture and practices were way
more pure and intense in that place. Most of the people over there are equally humble, loving,
and benevolent.
That place was my favourite for many reasons, not just because of the fact that the town
has a very rare vintage feel to it, the streets, the fields, the church, the houses and the
playgrounds where we used to play as a child, all were indelible and enthralling. There was a
riverbank beside the church which makes the atmosphere unimaginably pleasurable for someone
who likes to sit and spend some quality time alone or with their dear ones. I used to go here with
my sibling, and we used to gossip there and relish the pleasant atmosphere for hours.
One of the many reasons for which my uncle’s place is the dearest place for me to visit is
because of my aunt. Uncle’s jolliness and happy go lucky nature is appreciably accompanied
with his wife, who is a great cook and the most loving and affectionate human being anybody
can ever come across, and she used to make new recipes for us every time we go there; she used
to make cookies, cakes, muffins and pies for us. Also, she was a great singer who used to sing
for us soothing melodies and used to sing a lullaby to make us sleep. Both uncle and aunt used to
treat me like their child.

Along with the place, the house where my uncle’s family used to live also holds
numerous moments of our childhood and our family moments. During the evening time, our
entire family used to sit together and share some quality gossip moments. Uncle used to throw
wacky jokes and comedies and do mimicries to make us laugh immensely. He was a tremendous
mood maker and used to entertain all of us to the core. The moments I and my family has spent
there in that town and in that house were all priceless and unforgettable. We used to visit the
town market and buy us toys, balloons and chocolate. Unlike any other city markets, this market
is comparatively a lot different and unique to me for many reasons, for example, the toys that are
available here are all handmade, the vegetables and fruits that you get here are all freshly
plugged, and the market is all loaded with variety of things which are all manufactured by the
local people of the town. This market is very different from city supermarkets.
Talking about the playground, this is the place where I used to spend one-third time of a
day to the maximum time of the day with my local town friends and siblings. The playground
was huge and it has many trees and there were many birds as well, which can be noticed
chirping, flying and making nests for them. Some of the trees were laden with fruits and we used
to pluck and enjoy eating fresh from the trees itself. There were also many flower plants with
butterflies and bees flying around them, which makes the place even more beautiful and pleasant.
We used to play games like hide and seek, hopscotch, traffic cop and many more on that
playground. Along with the playground the town has many green fields everywhere and the
atmosphere is pleasant and the air was immaculate, fresh, and pure, because of less traffic, which
are the main reasons why this place is the favourite place of mine.
It requires a lot of element for which a place can be remembered and called as a favourite
place. In terms of retaining the little and large fragments of memories of a place, there are many

things all together contribute to the essence of a place which makes it a special one. A trip to my
favourite place once every year and meeting my favourite people, and the memories I gathered
are precious enough to cherish for my entire life. The peace of mind that the place used to give
me is incomparable. Unfortunately, my uncle’s family do not live there anymore, they moved out
of that place to another faraway city, and due to the busy life schedule, we do not communicate
anymore, but those childhood moments I spent with them in that small town will always remain
in my heart.
