2DESIGN THINKING
Introduction
The process of design thinking is not at all involved with the occupation of a designer.
It is the process that is acknowledged by greatest innovators in in every field of art and
science. It is even practiced in business organisations as well. Design thinking is the process
by which a solution to a particular problem is obtained with the development of an iterative
process to understand a particular situation (Brenner & Uebernickel, 2016). This is
formulated with the understanding of the situation, identifying the challenges or assuming the
challenges, and redefining the problems for identifying any alternative strategy or solution
that would not be so instantly apparent to the initial understanding levels. In the same way it
has been found that the CQU University does not have a car parking system and this has led
to a lot of problems within the university (Baum, 2018). Even the students have been facing a
lot of problems. Therefore, this particular report is thus to be formulated to find out how the
parking problem in CQU university through the methodologies adopted with the help of
design thinking tools. the analysis and solution to the problem would be provided with the
help of the identification of the problem, utilisation of design thinking tools techniques in
mind set comma identification of the problem in achieving innovative solution and the
challenges that would be implemented to the design thinking process formulating a focus on
what needs to be done to solve the issue.
Identification of a Problem through Design Thinking
Design thinking process is a nonlinear one in which the second stage of the entire
process is related to defining and identifying the problem to interpret the results further. It is a
process that is formulated in a nonlinear process with the help of several steps (Roberts et al.,
2016). To define a certain problem, it is important that an actionable problem statement is

justified that will help in understanding which integral part of the problem is been tried to
solve.
Here in this case, it has been found that the CQU University in Melbourne does not
have a car parking system and this has been creating a huge problem to the employees, the
staff and the students. It is also been found that without a car parking system it is impossible
for people to commute as most of the population in Melbourne depend upon driving their
own car to the destination. Therefore identification of the problem at the very first place is
established, and a problem statement would further justify why the design thinking process is
being approach that the first place for solving the car parking problem at the University.
The problem statement in this case is formulated through several stages. The first
stage initiates the integrative thinking and empathizes of the process that initiates why, even
after being provided with car, the students and the staff members cannot bring their own car.
This was further investigated to find out that the students and staff members did not bring
their own car because there was no provision that they could park a car in the university as
there was no parking system. Thus, the design thinking procedure through several stages and
utilisation of various tools, techniques and mind set is required to solve this problem that the
university is right now facing.
Design Thinking Tools, Techniques, and Mind-set to Develop Ideas
The design thinking tools are used to solve unidentified problem and this is a
nonlinear process as well. The tools and techniques used in this case defines the stage of the
synthesis in the observation as found out about the users right from the first stage of initiation
identification of a problem (Jouini, Midler & Silberzahn, 2016). The definition of the
problem statement guides through the work of the design thinking team to make sure that the
