DESIGN THINKING
The process of
design thinking
1. Empathize- Learning about the
audiences for who you are
designing.
2. Define- Constructing a view-point
which is based on the needs and
insights of the users
3. Ideate- Coming up with creative
solutions
4. Prototype- Building up of a
representation of one or more
ideas
5. Test- Returning to the original
user group and testing the ideas
for feedback (Miettinen et al. (2012).
What is Design
Thinking?
It is the indispensable
aptitude that is linked with
rationality, empathy and
creativity for meeting the
needs and requirements of the
users as well as driving the
business success (Brown &
Wyatt, 2010)
What is
Innovation
It is the process of
translating a particular idea
or any invention into any
good or service which in turn
creates a value and for
which consumers would pay
(Frye & Inge, 2010)..

Design mind-set in context to innovation
Design mind-set is basically solution focused rather
than question focused. It is action oriented towards the
creation of preferred future. It is a strategy for
innovation & creation (Goncalves, Cardoso & Badke-
Schaub, 2014). Along with processes and tools, design
thinking is also about the people. It draws upon
intuition, logic, systemic reasoning and imagination in
order to explore the possibilities of creating the desired
outcomes.
