Ans 1. These people have different kind of culture and it is very complex. Some part of their
culture comes from Australian element while other is related to Papuan region. Presence of
Austronesian language is another significant part of these aboriginal group. Besides having so
much diversity, they remain united and focus on their business activity (Miguel and Luquis,
2013). Organisations should leant this significant thing from these people. If multinational
companies will make a policy of hiring people from a particular region then they will fail to
develop quality workforce. They should use cultural knowledge gained from Torres strait
Islander people and hire employees from different part of this world.
Their are many retail companies like Woolworth in Australia who mainly hire candidates
from top university from prime location, they should also find candidates from unpopular
destinations and various region of this country. Diversity promote innovative ideas in the
organisation but it can also negatively influence performance of a company by increasing
number of conflicts. An enterprise adopt different procedures in their working, knowledge
gained from aboriginal people can affect these guidelines made by a firm. When culture of
people employees differ, chances of having difference in their opinion is also high.
Q2. Stereotypes about Aboriginal people
General knowledge of Australians is not correct about aboriginal people. Their are
various kind of myths like this community live in bushes. Actually it is opposite of what public
think, highest proportion of aboriginal life is present in Sydney. An important part of their life is
business. They are known for cultural diversity, their business oriented mind shows that they
understand growth opportunities in prime cities like Sydney and this is the main reason that they
significant number of aboriginal people live in this city. Another myths about them is related to
their sports skills (Moule, 2011). Many people believe that they are only good in sports. This
thinking does not match with the facts, there are many ATSI (aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander) who excel in fields of law, art, medicine and business.
Q3. Collection of information regarding cultural identities of children
Government of Australia keep record of every person who is living in this country. By
analysing census report, they can find culture of working children and status of their family.

They can also identify their community, i.e. people around them. By conducting survey is
different part of Australia, various kind of data can be collected regarding living conditions of
children within service. Statistical information can assist up to limit, main content regarding
these child can only be recorded by conducting qualitative research (Chiarenza, 2012). Articles
and blogs can be read for obtaining significant information about finding cultural identity of
these children.

Diversity comes from ending distances. Earlier people could travel to more than one
places but now because of proper transportation facilities, people of different religion, culture
and belief live at same place. When partners move to other nation, their children also go with
them and stay in foreign nation for many generations. This trend is increasing and it is the prime
cause behind diversity. Their are various way by which can be respected like building and
developing responsive relationship. Making people responsible for assisting and showing respect
to people from diverse culture can do this work. Open and honest communication is another
approach of respecting. People need to understand that everyone do not think like them, they
need to listen and appreciate ideas and belief of others.

Developing a sense of identity is not in children is not an easy thing. Community should
try to make them feel safe and supported (Long, 2012). If they will feel comfortable and get
confidence for openly expressing their ideas then assuring their well-being would be a big
problems. Freedom is link with the topic of maintaining identity, children should get autonomy
and they should be given power to take risk and make decision. If, at early stage, they will start
sharing their ideas with others then they will not shy to speak in public and raise their voice
against something wrong. Their will be beneficial for their well-being in present and upcoming
time and they will never feel unconfident and useless in their life.

Part 1
I belong to an Indian family, culture in my family is very different to other continents
specially western nations. When I entered in Australia for first time, most of the things were
weird for me. In mu culture, relationships are considered as an important thing. If a person is

married to someone then they cannot separate from each other. Instead of making own decisions,
families interfere in the choice made by a person. People in the society from where I belong, do
not considers separating as a good thing. Husband and wife may have many problems in between
them but they never think about divorce because their family and community do not allow and
support them. Religion is very important in my society, doing prayer of daily basis and visiting
holy places in regular interval of time is significant part of my routine. I have many friends from
different country countries, all if them have much freedom compared to autonomy which my
parents has given me. They do not want me live separate because this is not our culture and they
also involve in my personal life. Although one cannot say that this is not good because taking
career advice from seniors assist a person in moving on right path.
Food is another crucial part of Indian culture. In my community, people like to eat spicy
eatables, they do not shy from eating oily meal and many of them are vegetarian. Many people in
my country are vegetarian and they do not even like to sit and eat in a restaurant who sells non-
vegetarian dishes. Although this trend is rapidly changing and like me, may people of my culture
have started eating non-vegetarian meals. One of the most exiting thing about my group is that
people from different Indian culture are present in it. Their taste in different and someone of
them prefer sweet dishes instead of spicy. Instead of seeking employment, my community like to
do own business. Taking risk is something which is god gifted in my culture. A person may not
have degree from a reputed business school but they have necessary knowledge about how to
start and run a successful company.
In Australia and other European country, families are not well connected to each other,
but this in my society and family, we are well connected and support each other in favourable or
unfavourable condition. If there is marriage in family then all the work is done by family
members. We do not like to hire a events management firm or give someone else power to make
decisions regarding what should be done in the function. All the family member has to take part
in functions and they have to support each other. Earlier in my community, their was a trend of
having large family, but thinking of my society and family has changes and trend of having short
family has started. Foot-wears are not allowed in my home at the time of worshipping and
touching feet of elders is consider as good habit.
Their are around thousand of languages in India, many people speak region language like
most of my family members and local friends but Hindi is most popular languages which is used

in my circle. Wearing dresses according to my choice is permitted but most there is weird culture
in mu society that women have to wear decent cloths. One can say that there is a partiality
between male and female in term of freedom and dressing. Although this thinking is rapidly
changing and girls are getting autonomy which they deserve. In my family and society, people
like to prefer face to face talk. This is their communication style because they feel that if they are
interacting with something on telephone or through internet chatting then they cannot read their
expressions. Meeting in person is consider as proper communication style.
For attaining fitness, people in different part of this world like to go in Jim. My
community members focus on mental heath instead of making attractive body, I daily spend half
an hour in doing meditation and Yoga. This is not only because of fitness, but keeping yourself
healthy is consider as important parts of our ''Vedas''. Religion is directly and indirectly
connected to Indian history and my parents and other family members also feel that taking care
of animal specially cow is a part reverence.
Part 2
Identification of significant events in family history
Earlier, their was time when Indian parents were not too serious about studies of their
children because they try to make them employable by teaching them something which they are
already doing for their livelihood. I do not remember much about my schooling days but their
was one incident which taught me a life lesson and changes my attitude. I lied regarding my
homework to my teacher, he called my parents and told them that your child is a liar. Both my
parents and teacher told me that whatever you do in your life, never lie about it. Now this has
become an important principle of my life and I also do not like to make friends or connect with
someone who lie to me. I firmly belief that if someone will speak truth then they may get into
someone troubles, but if they will lie then this trouble will convert into big problems. Earning
trust of people is a hard task but lying can end faith.
When I was in college one of my relatives got divorce, when the whole matter ends I
understood one thing that separating from your wife or husband is considered a taboo in my
society. If make a huge impact on my beliefs and changed my attitude towards making casual
relationships. Divorce make a negative impact on growth of a child. My cousins, whose parents
took divorce, became bit introvert from being extrovert. Their attitude changes and they started
disrespecting other seniors members of the family because they feel that society and family do

not have any values. Community only care about their own benefits and their offspring are not
important for them.
My past experiences are main reason behind my current values and attitude. When a
senior dies, younger one is automatically get responsibility of the family. This value has not
become part of my attitude. When I feel that their a leadership crises friends circles or college
then I like to sit on drivers seat at the time of absence of any senior person. Earlier I use to live in
a joint family, my grandfather was senior most person of this family and his decision was
considered as last decision. But after his death, this responsibility came to my father because he
was senior in the family. I belief that if you will make someone responsible for something then
this will influence their working in positive way.
When I was young, my parents use teach me one thing that health comes before first. I
did not take them serious at that time but when once I got sick and missed an opportunity to
become part of my football team then I realised that I should always spend time of taking care of
my health. I daily go for jogging and spent time in doing Yoga. It does not matter how busy or
free I am, I also find time for these two things. Their is one significant thing which I can learn
from my history i.e. taking proper nutrition is more important than spending time in Jim. This is
one of my belief that if a person is eating healthy food and taking necessary nutritions that he/she
will not get sick and look smart. Career growth and earning money is significant for everyone
but if health of a person is not fine then these things does not matter.
If a person has seen their family member doing hard work and live in a society where
people always try to push their limits then they also become a hard worker. I do not like to waste
time and keep my schedule hectic. I understand that I cannot control everything but I always try
to work hard so I can accomplish most of the things is short period of time. Attitude is
considered as a small thing because it has ability to make a big difference. When I was in my
school football team, we lost a match because our coach thought that attitude of team was not
appropriate. We were playing against a strong team and thinking that how much will be the
difference between goals done by both teams. Instead of have a attitude of ''never give up'', we
were playing defensive and never thought about winning the match. He told us to change our
attitude and told one significant thing that ''You do not loose the match until the result come''.
Every person should develop the attitude of ''never stop trying'' and keep faith in their skills. This

attitude is still present in my personality and I do not care about challenges and believe in
myself.

Report on cultural competence audit
Kimberley Land Council is an organisation who is working in the field of getting rights
regarding political land. Population of this region in around 35000. This organisation do not only
fight for the rights of indigenous people and work in the sector of cultural development, they are
business employer in this region and they also focus on cultural business development (Powell
Sears, 2012). Below are some areas where contribution of this organisation is significant:
Promotion of cultural values – Kimberley land Council is the representative of aboriginal
people. By using their cultural values and skills regarding managing land they have attained
significant amount of popularity at global level and they are resolving economic problem of
indigenous clients. This organisation understand that they have to cope up with the changes
which is happening in society but not at the cost of loosing or ignoring their culture. They have
significant amount of contribution in attaining a strong position and managing their land.
Savanna Burning Carbon Project is a fire management system which is developed by
people of this organisation. This project basically focus on reducing the amount of greenhouse
gas emission which happens due to unmanaged and dangerous fire in forest. This region is
popular because of their uncontrolled fire in forest which take place at a large level. It earns them
bad publicity and negatively affect their culture. One may see this project for managing fire but
this effort from the side of organisation also promote various positive things about culture and
ability of indigenous people like managerial skills.
Recognition – This organisation continuously organise events and conduct meeting with
different government authority. They are working in area of attaining their right and title. They
still feel that indigenous people did not get necessary amount of attention which they deserve,
this organisation is authenticate representative of indigenous clients and they are giving their best
for earning respect for this community (Berardo and Deardorff, 2012). Negotiation is crucial part
of fighting for recognition and they are doing every things for getting their rights which they
deserve.

Cultural governance model – Saving culture may look easier but in reality it is not as easy
task. Kimberley Land Council is working field giving guidance and making decision regarding
promotion of a culture friendly environment. They have made some rules which has to be
followed by indigenous people and staff members so the work of saving culture can be done in
an effective way.
Sustainable enterprise – If a community is financially strong and they have employment
then sustaining their culture is easier. Indigenous people are client of this organisation and KLC
try to generate wealth for this community so they can reduce their dependence on government
and other people (Wray and Mortenson, 2011). This organisation is giving employment to
indigenous people because they know that sustaining a culture require money and money can
only be earned by doing business. KLC has raised various issues at national and regional level
because government know that they their contribution in economy of Australia is significant.
Conserving and restoring environment – Land is most important thing for aboriginal
people. If someone want to save their culture then they should try to retain and develop their land
where they are living. KLC is doing same thing, they are trying to save environment and
generating business which do not negatively harm environment. If a culture is connected to the
climate change then it can gain popularity in at global level. This organisation often argue that
they have survived many challenges like Rule of Britishers. In order to save their land and
culture they are working on innovative but practical ideas.

Kimberley Land Council is setting various targets to promote culture friendly environment. Their
management is focussed towards reducing the gap between indigenous and non-indigenous
Australians. For this purpose, they are making effective strategies to provide employment
opportunities to backward societies of country (Betancourt and et. al., 2016). This organisation is
creating possibility in order to get more participation of indigenous people. They are actively
present in remote areas of Australia so as to maintain cultural friendly environment. This group
has launched strategy for motivating diversity to fulfil their duties concerned with society and
culture. There are effective policies to manage workforce heterogeneity in their organisation.

They are hiring women at higher positions of administration in order to maintain equality in staff
members.
Cultural dimensions plays an major role in improving economic efficiency. Kimberley is
the biggest employment provider for native groups like Aboriginal people of Australia. It is
contributing towards security of native title and developing cultural business enterprise for
promoting culture at their workplace and society as well (Respecting diversity,2017).

Kimberley is an organisation working for political land rights. It is amongst those
institutions that is involved with Aboriginal people in order to safeguard native title,
conservation of culture and development of societal business enterprise. Most of the region
covered by this organisation is northern western Australia. This place is known for effective and
significant heritage of Aboriginal culture (Li, Mobley and Kelly, 2013). They are focussed on
maintaining security of law, language and diversity of this civilization to conserve it for long
term.
Kimberley is covering around 423,000 sq km which includes population of approx
35,000 and half of these people are indigenous Australian. They have formed several policies for
providing benefits to Aboriginal people. Along with that, they are working with 25 native title
groups to improve socio-economic conditions. This organisation is operating in areas where
Aboriginal and ATSI persons are wishing to access services. They are providing their services to
such backward areas in order to improve their lifestyle.

Yes, staff members this organisation are showing respect for several cultural groups and
it reflects from their attitudes and behaviours of these person. Employees of Kimberley are
acceptable to cultural diversity (Horvat and et. al., 2011). It shapes their identity and influences
their behaviours which allows them to ensure integrity and equality at work place. They are far
beyond from issues like, discrimination in race, ethnicity, religion, class etc. There are various
aspects which shows that workers of this institution are respectful for all traditions and cultures.
They are open with every type of viewpoint, thoughts and experiences of others. These people
have developed cultural responsive attitude in following manner-

 They are aware about different cultures which makes them able to understand others
belief and values (Jeffreys, 2015). This enables staff members to give proper respect to
other people from various civilisation.
 These employees are appreciating diverse views and values of other religions. It is
required to accept others point of view and understanding importance of their thoughts.
 They are avoiding stereotypes which makes them able to accept native societies like
Aboriginal. These members knows how to work for welfare of such backward societies.
 Another aspect that shows their respect for all culture is that they don't believe in
imposing their thoughts on other.
a.1) KLC is main representative for the aboriginal community and their involvement in running
programmes for business development, saving culture and planning events for indigenous people
is significant (Hawala-Druy and Hill, 2012). They are working on various project which will
either directly or indirectly impact development of aboriginal community.
a.2) KLC is focusing on cultural governance and they have made some procedures for assisting
indigenous people making them employable. This organisation has some policies and demand
which they time to time represent at in-front of national and regional authority. They are getting
support of government and but they do not develop any policy which is authenticate by law.
Most of the procedures, which they have, is related to their own working and they are not
considered by government authorities.
a.3) KLC is running some programmes reading climate change and burning carbon. Aboriginal
people are directly involved in it and they have made a management system which work in the
area of keep their land save and attaining economic growth (Jenks, 2011). They are running
different programmes and encouraging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander persons for
participating in project which is basically related to culturally diverse people.
a.4) KLC is using appropriate methods of communication, they have a website and they send
newsletter to their community members, followers and subscribers. People from different culture
can subscribe to their newsletter and they can get significant knowledge about the programmes
and work done by this organisation. They use normal English language on their websites and
newsletters so everyone can understand them.
