INTRODUCTION
Health as well as social care define as those ample number of care services provided by
medical professionals to make a person healthy by giving them treatment related to their injury
or disease. It consist of various clinical practices as well as process which are quite effective in

this, it is required to monitor and examine the healthcare services for identifying the influence of

that there well being and quality of life will be improved. The current report includes different
question which emphasises on the scope, principles and purpose as well as discussion about the
requirements of laws and legislation for the professional supervision. Apart from this, it also
includes discussion about performance management cycle, practices related to managing
conflicts and disputes and power imbalance.

1.1 Principles, scope along with purpose of professional supervision
Professional supervision define as one of the most positive as well as enabling process
which provides an opportunity in order to bring workers and some skilled supervisor together so
they can reflect on their work practice. It refers to the process with the assistance of which a
worker can review as well as evaluate their whole performance with the help of conducting
discussion and observing themselves with another staff members. In the present context of NHS,
the major principles, scope along with the purpose of professionals supervision are going to be
discussed as follows:
Principles- The main principle of professional supervision consist of to adopt and
implement National Minimum Care Standards which includes safety, security, protection from

There are several theories and models that be used by NHS for professional supervision
which are as under –
Stoltenberg and Delworth Model – Stoltenberg and Delworth model was developed in
the year 1987 which is a developmental model including three stages of supervisees which are
beginning, intermediate as well as advanced. It is said that within each and every level the

It has been identified by me that it is very essential for an individual person in order to
remain professional at the time of performing tasks and their functions with their colleagues as
well as superiors at the workplace. There are ample number of staff members working within the
organization who have their own values, targets and way of doing their job. This might create
conflicts and disputes at the workplace which affect their overall functionality in an adverse
manner. In addition to this, it has also been said that both supervisee and the supervisor need to
avoid their personal issues which have the capability to influence their overall working in a
negative way. Along with this, it has also been observed by me that there must be two way
communication and effective listening skills so that all the issues, disputes and conflicts can be
resolved which was arise at the workplace.

is one of the most essential sector as it helps in improving the living standards of individuals and
well being of a person. This is the process through which an healthcare professionals can easily
improve the health of the person in an effective manner. It has also been identified that it consist
of highly professional supervision along with the purpose of promote celebration of the
strengths, assist them in order to overcome weakness, identify the needs of training, create
positive and safe working environment. In addition to this, it has also been said that model as
well as theories are used in the professional supervision which are Lee-Borden and Lorenz
Model along with Functioning interactive theory. These theories assist in performing all the
professional activities in an effective and appropriate manner.
