INTRODUCTION Memory and learning are two most important things that are closely linked or related to a person. Memory and learning can help a person to either clarify their doubts or can confuse (Mäkitalo, Linell and Säljö, eds., 2017). Memory is one of the most important things which is required to be focused on as it helps a person to learn something new and memorize things learned by them. Both memory and learning are interrelated in fact it is said that memory can impact learning of a person. Here, an argument will be developed which will focus on a question that “why memory can impact on learning.” MAIN BODY It has been observed that memory and learning are inter related to each other but most probably learning is dependent upon memory of a person. Working on memory helps a person to enhance their learning. Memory of a person affects their learning ability in many different ways. If a person has any kind of problem or issue with their memory, it directly impacts their learning (Frith, Sng, E and Loprinzi, 2017). So, it can be said that memory plays a vital role in improving learning of a person. Memory of e person affects their ability to recall, retain, store or learn new information. It has a fundamental role in a person’s life in reflecting their past experience, reuse past experience to enhance present experience and learn new things. Often people get confused between learning and memory. Learning is a part of memory and it directly/indirectly impacted or influenced by memory of a person. The manner or way in which information or data is stores, processed or retrieved impacts learning level of a person. Encoding is the way in which information is formed or encoded in order to be stored within the memory. Storing is way in which information is stored and maintained within the brain and retrieving is a process though which information stored in extracted or retrieved(Li, Zhu,and Zhang, 2016). Effectivity and efficiency of these processes impacts the manner in which a person learns or impacts their level of learning. So, it can be said that working memory is one of the main keys of learning. Working on a memory can help a person to enhance their learning. There are five different ways in which memory can be used to enhance a person’s learning. Memory can be used to access required information. Memory is stored either in audio or visual manner so that information can be extracted at required time. Storage of memory in audio or visual manner helps a person to remember and learn new things in an appropriate manner (Meier, Kappler and Schaal, 2018). manner in which data or information is stored helps a person in remembering 1
instruction in a better manner for doing an activity of learning something new(Meier, Kappler and Schaal, 2018). If information stored can be extracted easily from the memory them learning of person can be improved in fact person can easily focus or concentrate on things to ne learned in an appropriate manner. Memory of a person can also impact concentration and focus level of an individual which can further impact learning and can also work as a hindrance in memorizing or learning new things. These ways can affect ways of reading, understanding and storing an information. It is important for people to understand learning and memory are interrelated i.e. if a person faces any kind of difficulty in learning then they won’t be able to memorize those things in a better manner and if a person faces difficulty in memorizing any information or retrieving any information from memory then learning process of a person can get impacted as they won’t be able to extracted ort retrieve required information from memory (Mäkitalo, Linell and Säljö, eds., 2017). CONCLUSION From the above argument it has been summarized that memory does impact learning of a person both directly/indirectly. Working on memory of a person can help them to improve their learning. If a person can easily store or extracted required information from memory of a person then their learning process can be improved in a much better manner. It has been concluded that storing, encoding and retrieving process of memory directly affects memory of a person that can further impact learning process of a person as learning process further consist of various stages and each of these stages are affected by efficiency of a person’s memory to store, encode and retrieve information. 2
