INTRODUCTION
Developing Cross-Cultural Capability is a culture is a process involving practices and
approaches aimed at improving cross-cultural, which relates to the acceptance and recognition of
the characteristics of someone's culture, the development of good approach toward other cultural
groups and individuals, and the improvement of one's capacity to understand and communicate
with them (Ott and Michailova, 2018). In the given report small shoe organisation which is
Arthur Knight shoes is selected as a base consideration. They are operating in Northampton,
United Kingdom and have five employees working in the organisation. The main aim of report is
that they want to expand their operation in china so there are some opportunities and risk
involved in human resources. There is two theories which is Hofstede culture of dimensions
which help them to explore their business in other countries. The are some literature review
which author has explain about the culture differences in both countries.
MAIN BODY
Culture differences between China and UK
According to viewpoint of (Jordan, 2013), there is difference between the culture in
United Kingdom and China which means that human resource department have to analyse and
understand the culture of China. This is done when Arthur Knight are expanding their production
in China. There are three differences which is mentioned below:
Management style: China and UK have different management styles where in China they do
not involve their staff members when they are taking decision which is related to
organisation (Betts, Super. and North, 2018).On the other hand, United Kingdom involve
their staff members in decision making because they are the one who can give better ideas
which help organisation to enhance their productivity. Manger of China companies use
authoritative and paternity style whereas manager of UK uses both democratic and
participative management style. Motivation: The motivation tool used by China is non-momentary which means that they
have to motivate their employees by using the non-momentary tool which means that they
they only focus on group reward not on individual reward in order to achieve business
objectives. On the other hand, United Kingdom use momentary tool which is used by them in
order to accomplish the set objectives. In this way the selected shoe organisation, have to
analyse the culture of both UK and China which help them to produce their shoes in China. Perception of working hours: In context to Arthur Knight, they have to identify and analyse
the culture difference between both countries, which means China working hours for
employees as they do not receive pay for overtime because in China working hours is greater
as compared to other countries (Calnin and et. al., 2018). On the other hand, United Kingdom
the employees working hours is fixed which means that employees get extra pay for their
extra work. This culture difference is the major thing which should be analyse by Arthur
Knight so that they can operate their business in China.
From the above discussion on the culture differences between both countries which is
China and UK. Arthur Knight have to effectively identify the work culture of China so that
