INTRODUCTION
Modern global organisations are required to possess a set of potential and competencies
in order to meet the pressing the business challenges. Ability of organisation to set the effectively
compete in the global market place is based on the identification and sustaining adequate number
of qualified global managers (Kardes and et.al., 2013). In present report, analysis of Heathrow
International Airport has been done which is situated in London, UK. It is second largest and
engaged airport in the world by the international passenger traffic, which has begun its journey
from the year 1929 as a small air field. Development of the whole Heathrow area as very much
larger airport began in 1944. Further, after two decades of planning and construction, Heathrow
is finally on the verge of opening their anticipated terminal 5. With its completion, it would be
capable of providing the important new capacity for its tenant airlines and able to raise its overall
revenue along with improvement of public image and status. Further, Heathrow is planning to
expand its service for tenant airline and it has also faced some issues in expansion and
management of operations which are discussed in this report along with the global competencies
required for them to be developed. Some important

What is project management
Project management is the important practice of initiating , planning, executing ,
controlling and closing the work of team in order to achieve specific goals and meet the specific
criteria of success at the specified time.
Study has provided information that Heathrow international Airport has started its new
terminal for the tenant international airline and developed capability of providing high quality
services for its customer (Harris and McCaffer, 2013). In order to determine a completed picture
of problems faced by the company in expansion of its operations, external analysis of company
will be done which helps in getting proper information. Moreover, delay tended towards the
decisions impacting the overall quality on the variety of areas such as marked reduction in
testing and staff orientation with the premises.

Strengths: Heathrow is the largest international airport which has achieved major
growth, profitability and revenue from its business operations. Continuous increasing
profitability of enterprise is major competencies for expansion (Bell and et.al., 2017).
High monetary support has been provided by shareholders and government to the
organisation which has increased their capability. Further, company also has skilled
employees who are considered as competitive advantage over rivals. In expansion,
company has faced problem of external parties such as people, government and
management issues in management of global business operations.
Weaknesses: Future market size is only one weakness of Heathrow due to which
company will face problems in the future. Heathrow has wide interlink with international
and British airlines companies to whom Heathrow provide services (Hisrich and
Kearney, 2013). With the increase in government restrictions on trade and other policies,
company has faced some issues in management of business operations. It is essential for
Health row airport to analyse its impact of the marketing environment upon the
organisation and industry as well.
Opportunities: Analysis has stated that continuous rise in income level of people has
provided major opportunities to organisation because their customers have been
increasing continuously. Company mainly comes under travel and tourism sector and
increase in income level of people will raise the demand of air travel in countries.
Therefore, company has decided to launch terminal for international airlines. Moreover,
availability of global market and development of new products and services is also
considered as major opportunities for Heathrow to expand its operations.
Threats: The major problems which provides influence on growth and development of
Heathrow is increase in management of global operations are increase in cash flows
which has influenced their profitability. Changes in government regulation,
technological problems and increase in labour costs are some threats for organisation.
