INTRODUCTION
Leadership and management play a very important part in every organisation and it helps
and enables managers to achieve their respective goals. There are many different styles of
leadership that have been formulated for this purpose and helps in smooth functioning of a
organisation. The present report is based on developing a detail understanding of the
contemporary practises that are associated with the practises of leadership and management
taking place in various organisations. Both the leaders and managers play a very crucial role in
making the whole workforce in performing the functions according to key requirements for
achievement of the final objectives that have been laid down in the course of business Tseng and
Wu, 2014).
The reports is basically divided in three major sections the firsts section is discussing
about the meaning of leadership & management and the different perspectives, associated roles
and responsibilities of managers and leaders. In the second section there are comparison of
leaders that is made of those who are part of “2019 great Leaders list” that consist of the top 10
leaders (Jauhari, Singh, and Kumar, 2017). . There is a detail assessment of these leaders. Further
different theoretical approaches are being used in this discussion. Lastly in the third section there
is a critical comparison that is made of the skills and behaviour of these successful leaders and
two areas are developed for proposing how to implement and make its evaluation in a more
effective manner in the present changing scenario of organisations.

1. Critical analysis of definition, responsibilities and roles of management and leadership in
modern context.
Definition of leadership: Leadership refers to an art which influences in order to achieve
organizational goals willingly and in effective manner. It is a procedure where a person influence
others bytheir actions, words or any other activities so that they can enhance their staff members
performance and effectiveness (Yeeand et.al., 2013). This as a result assist them in order to attain
their goals and objectives of the company in an effective manner. Effective leadership requires
high quality communication; problem solving as well as team management skills so that they can
effectively guide and motivate their employees in order to accomplish pre defined goals and
objectives of the business entity. Hence, it has been concluded that leadership is one of the most

effective and influential art which is used by leaders so that they can increase the efficiency of
their staff members.
Definition of management: It defines as a procedure which includes decision making,
planning, leading, organizing, motivation as well as controlling each and every human resources,
physical, financial&, information resources of business entity (Van Wart, 2014). This as a result
assists business organization in order to accomplish their goals and objectives in an effective
manner. Management refers to a problem solving procedure which leads towards the
accomplishment of organizational goals by using all the scare resources in an effective manner.
Managers are the one who mainly manages and organize all the business activities in an
appropriate manner so that they can positively accomplish all there goals and objectives within
given time frame. They are the one who are highly responsible for the development, success and
growth of the company. Therefore, it is concluded that a manager plays very essential role in the
attainment of organizational goals and objectives of the company in an effective manner.
In order to perform different sort of task in order to accomplish organizational goals
and objectives there are various types of roles and responsibilities of leadership and management
(Urick, 2016). All these assist in attaining desired goals and objectives in an effective and
appropriate manner. Below mentioned are some roles and responsibilities of both leadership and
management which are going to be discussed as follows:
Role and responsibility of leadership – In an organization leadership is important part
because it help in conducting daily basis operations in more effective manner as well as also in
accomplishing goals and objectives. Moreover, there are several role and responsibility of
leadership in company such as decision making, mentoring, coaching, development of team
member’s skills as well as managing conflicts. In addition to this, it can be said that leadership is
ongoing process which need regular practice as well as use. Moreover, with the implementation
of proper leadership approach and business firm will be able to handle every situation in
effective manner. Along with this, it has also been identified that one of the most essential
responsibility of a leadership is to communicate all the information and required data to the staff
members so that they can enhance their efficiency as well as effectiveness in order to produce
high quality of products. Furthermore, they need to motivate and encourage their employees on a
regular basis so that they can easily cope up with the changing environment and manufacturer
high quality goods and services so they can satisfy the needs and requirements of customers.
