INTRODUCTION
Leadership is considered as a competency which makes a person enable to guide, support
as well as lead other individuals in an efficient manner. With these skills, leaders are able to
motivate other individuals to attain predefined goals and objectives. Leaders play a crucial role
in a lot of fields such as in government, companies or even in daily life. Leadership is not about
imposing restrictions on another person rather it is about motivating people so that they can
attain high level of success and growth. There are a lot of theories as well as methods have been
developed about leadership and management which helps people to perform their job roles and
responsibilities effectively (Bush, Bell and Middlewood, 2019). In addition, there are a lot of
great leaders such as Jeff Bezos, Tim cook and more who are working efficiently in their
respective fields to inspire followers in an effective way. It is analyzes that Jeff Bezos is an
eminent personality and a great leader who founded an ecommerce giant, Amazon. He has
started the company in 1994 at small scale and with ultimate leadership and management
approaches now Jeff Bezos is able to maintain such a large business at global level. Another
leader, Tim cook is the CEO of the most prestigious company at global level, Apple. He has rich
experience which help him to manage the operations of such a renowned company in an efficient
menu. In current time, there are some additional skills and behaviour is needed to acquire by
leaders. These skills as well as behaviour have been discussed in the following report. Moreover
the report includes detailed information regarding leadership and management and the change
which is coming in their roles & responsibilities overtime.

Definition of leadership and management
Leadership: It refers to a process by which leaders put impact on followers through
providing them proper guidance, support as well as direction. In other words, leadership is a
competency by which an individual is able to influence other so that they get inspired to attain
predefined goals & objectives. Under this process, leaders set a vision and encourage followers
in such a manner that they work to convert that vision into reality. In current time, leadership is
crucial for managing work force within company (Clark and Harrison, 2018). It is analyze that

leaders maintain proper communication with staff members with an aim to maintain better
relationship with them. They also encourage staff members by various means such as monetary
and non monetary benefits so that they work with their full potential and work for betterment of
company. Great leaders believe in leading as well as supporting employees for achieving goals.
Simultaneously, they also make sure that employs achieve personal goals along with
organizational goals to keep them motivated and inspired. It is analyzed to become a good
leader, there is requirement to adopt some essential skills such as communication, empathy,
creativity, motivation and more (Lehtonen and et. al., 2018). A leader needs to maintain proper
communication with employees so that they get to know what are the problems, constrains are
exactly faced by employees at work place. Further, they also act as middle person between
administration and work force. Also, need to taken such decisions which drive maximum
benefits for staff members. Leaders always engage themselves in right activities as their
followers also follow their actions. So, they need to be conscious about their activities and
always select right path. They inspire followers by getting engage in right activities. They set a
particular direction and inspire followers to follow the direction for attaining success & growth.
There are a lot of theories prevailing related to leadership such as great man theory,
situational and contingency and more. As per the great man theory, leaders generally born with
the capabilities and skills to be a good leader in future period of time. This theory states that
leaders have some inherent skills which are essential to play the role of leader in an efficient
manner. On other side, situational leadership is related to act as per the situation occur. As per
this theory, there is no predefined way for a leader to deal with the situation (Cherry and Jacob,
2016). There are also some style of leadership such as transformational leadership, transactional
and servant leadership and more. In Transformational leadership, leaders encourage employees
to innovate as well as create change to ensure the growth and success of company. Here, leaders
motivate work force on regular basis so that they work hard for making a great future. In
transactional leadership, leaders focus on supervision, group performance as well as
organization. In this style, leaders use negative as well as positive approaches to bring best out of
employees. They use both punishments as well as rewards to get the work done in desired
manner. Servant leadership is completely different with these two approaches where managers
treat subordinates as servant and keep proper control over their activities. They maintain fear in

employees so that they do the work in an efficient manner. There is no authority is given to staff
members as they are required to perform as per the received instructions.
In the current scenario, Jeff Bezos is adopts transformational leadership by inspiring team
members to always learn new things. He formulates vision and communicate it to team members
so that they get a proper direction. He is a visionary person who set vision for whole business to
bring higher innovation as well as creativity at market place. Apart from this, Jeff Bezos also
motivate followers by examples. It is analyzed that Bezos always ready to go for extra miles to
attain set goals which also inspired followers to do so. Here, Tim Cook is a regarded as a leader
who believe in making followers more competent, innovative as well as smart so that they can
achieve maximum level of success & growth. He is considered as a democratic leader who
encourages employees to bring more innovative as well as creative suggestions for betterment of
organization.
Management: Management is considered as a process of planning, organising, directing
and controlling organizational activities to achieve desired goals within an estimated period of
time. Here, management is the realization of organizational goals by making optimum use of
available resources (Karami-Akkary and Hammad, 2019). In management, there is main
emphasis to main organizational activities in efficient manner for betterment of the company. For
this, sometimes managers also neglect needs & requirements of employees. It is stated that
management is a duty which includes planning the activities, organising resources, controlling
over budget, coordinating & monitoring different functions of company. Apart from this,
management is considered as a way to achieve success by managing entity efficiently. In simple
words, management is regarded as a process of attaining organizational objectives with the
efficient use of resources.
It is analyzed that management is associated with group efforts as only an individual
cannot perform different activities of management. There is a requirement of having a complete
group for attaining predefined objectives in stipulated period of time. Management is an activity
which is perform for a particular purpose (Rehman and Iqbal, 2020). Here, a major criterion for
measuring success of management is related to accomplishment of goals. However, management
is generally performed by manager but there are also a lot of other people such as accountant,

organizing, controlling and more. Planning is related to prepare future plans as well as strategies
to reduce down future uncertainties. On other side, organization is related to organize available
resources in such a manner that company can attain huge success. Here, managers assign task to
different individuals as per their competencies for making optimum use of resources. After
organizing the next activity is related to directing individuals where manager provide direction,
support to employees on continuous basis (Whaley and Gillis, 2018). In this, manager supervise
the wok of staff members and maintain proper coordination so that predefined business
objectives can be achieved. In management, controlling is the last function under which
managers set some standards in terms of comparing the actual performance. If, the outcomes are
negative then they prepare appropriate strategies for taking necessary corrective actions.
Therefore, management is an essential business function under which different activities are
performed by managers in terms of ensuing business enlargement and growth.
Role and Responsibilities of leaders
Provide a vision: It is analysed that main role and responsibility of a leader is to

a great leader who has higher passion about changes thus able to lead such a renowned company
in an efficient manner. So, in contemporary environment changes are crucial for becoming a
good leader.
Open communication: This skill is also required to present in leaders for performing
their roles & responsibilities effectively. Open communication is important to maintain better
relation with followers. In current time, employees have become a vital part of business. Also,
they faced a lot of difficulties in performing their task within company. So, leaders need to
maintain such an open environment at work place where employees can communicate with each
other in an efficient manner. For this purpose, they need to minimize the difference between
