IntroductionDeveloping Oral Language in Early ChildhoodI will speak on the issues of early childhood education that concerns the development of oral language. For this purpose I have planned to use drawing activity as a learning activity for the children of ages 5 to 7 years. Children develop the ability to spell out words and associate meanings to sound from the age of five. Therefore, it is best to include children between this age group.

Key Concepts of LanguagePhonology and SemanticsThe present learning activity plan is focused mainly on developing oral language of the chosen age group children. In order to meet this purpose, I have primarily included two components of language that are phonology and semantics. Phonology, as already stated is the component of language that refers to the ways by which sounds operate in a language. I have chosen this concept for the chosen age group because it is at this age that children’s phonological knowledge develops. Semantics means the means by which meanings are conveyed by the language. Children of 5 to 7 years of ages develop a vocabulary set of 2 to 5 thousand words. Hence, teaching them the basics of semantics at this age is important. Contd....
