1.1 Describe the duties and responsibilities of own work role
There are some duties of registered nurse towards clients, employer etc. Duty toward
clients include offering medication, providing them healthcare facilities etc. There are
certain duties towards the employer of healthcare organization such as attending training
programmes that helps to improve healthcare services that are provided to the patients.
Registered nurse is responsible for educating the patient as well as their families
regarding treatment plans, diagnosis and follow-up care visitations etc. Further, they are
also responsible for helping the patients to determine alternative courses of treatment.
The nurse also has major obligation to protect the rights of patients. Registered nurse
must avoid any type of conflict of interest while providing care to the patient irrespective
of economic status, race and other discrimination factors (Redmond, 2017).
1.2 Explain expectations about own work role as expressed in relevant standards?
According to various legislations, registered nurse should have completed The Care
Certificate to ensure that they are having proper set of skills that are required to provide
the minimum standards of healthcare services. Further, nurse should have completed
Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care. There are various legislations according to which
healthcare professionals should comply such as Health and Safety Act, Equality Act etc.
Nurse should focus on the objectives of legislations such as health and safety act while
working in healthcare organization. They must ensure to protect health and safety of
everyone even if they do not work for the organization. Further, Skills for Care has
provided Code of Conduct that defines standards that all healthcare professionals should
comply minimum level of care for all the clients (Howatson-Jones, 2016).
1.3 Describe how to work effectively with others.
To perform various duties effectively with others whenever nurse is providing care to the
patients they are required to work in collaboration with other professionals. The process
of communication between group members should be transparent so that there will be
free flow of ideas. Teamwork is described as two or more than two individuals that are
interacting interdependently with a specific purpose that helps to attain goals of the
organization. Nowadays, clinical care has become more complex and specialized. This
has forced medical professionals to perform their duties in a group. This will also help to
provide better quality of healthcare services to patients (Goulet, Larue and Alderson,
2016).
Effectively working with other professionals that are working in healthcare organization
helps to adopt advance tools and techniques to provide better healthcare related services
to the patients. This will help to improve the health of the clients as well. Further, it will
also assist management to attain goals of healthcare organization.
