1. Introductory Overview
Today, number of people suffering from Dementia are increasing day by day. Diagnosis
of dementia among people is also increasing day by day. It is becoming a challenge for medical
practitioners to reduce the growing number of dementia patients as it has becomes one of the
main critical issue that is being faced healthcare organizations because they not only need to
focus on increasing dementia patients but they also need to focus on providing them with quality
care in order to increase quality of their lives (Edison and et.al., 2017). Earlier it was analysed
that dementia was mostly seen within patients of older age group but today dementia is found
within young or middle aged persons as well. It has also been observed that dementia is one of
the main leading cause of death especially within elderly people. If it is not detected on time then
its effect on patients can increase with time which can further worsen their condition. People
suffering from dementia require special palliative care with assistive device. Today advance
level dementia is perceived as terminal illness i.e. an illness which cannot be treated. Advance
level dementia patients can only be taken care of in a better manner.
2. Background
This topic was chosen because this topic because this topic interests the researcher in
many ways. Dementia is one of those diseases which is increasing with a great number (Reeves,
Lillie and Burrow, 2019). As per the studies conducted in the past by other researchers it has
been observed that dementia is not observed directly in fact it is the side effect of other diseases
such as Alzheimer due to this risk factors associated with it increases and not only this it is not
diagnosed easily as well other than this it is not considered as a priority to be treated in the first
place as well. So in order to overcome such limitation associated with dementia various kinds of
studies had been carried out which has not only helped the medical practitioners but has also
helped the patients suffering from dementia and the families of the patients as well. The main
reason to choose this topic was because researcher wanted to carry out research on dementia and
understand the main root underlying cause of dementia, understand government policies, acts,
legislation etc. for dementia patients in a better manner (Bhanu and et.al., 2019). Researcher also
wanted to understand pre and post diagnosis healthcare faculties provided to dementia patients.
