Diagnosis of patient’s condition1
Melanoma is a type of skin cancer, which can be appeared as mole or wart. This
assignment focuses on identification of mole or condition of epidermis for detecting the
malignancy of the mole. There are some warning signs in detection of moles, which is known
as “ABC’s signs”. Full form of the ABC is Asymmetry, Border and Colour (Veltmeijer,
Karaoglu & Gevers, 2019). If the mole looks different from various sides. Irregular border
and jagged border is the signs of the malignancy. However, a normal mole should have
smooth and regular border. If the mole contains more than one colour, a chance of skin
carcinoma can be predicted. Presence of above discussed signs can help an individual to
identified cancerous nature of a mole.
Melanoma occurs at the melanocytes of the epidermis and it is one of the rarest skin
cancers. This condition is highly metastatic and causes 75% of deaths due to skin cancer
(Arron et al., 2016). The nature of a mole can be identified by self-examination and changing
of appearance of mole. Changes in skin around the lymph node and irregular freckles are the
symptoms of cancerous cells. Abnormal pain and secretion can be a symptom of presence of
metastasis in the body of a patient.
Details related to the patient’s condition should be informed, as this will help in
increasing awareness and enhancing medical adherence in patients. The patient can her
family support after sharing the information with them. Patient can be demotivated after
knowing the information as a situation of mental stress and depression may arrive (Wen et al.
, 2017). Mental stress can hamper appetite, motivation to continue medical adherence and
other physiological process such as heart and respiratory rate. The assignment concluded that
the identification of cancerous moles is important for early interventions of treatment of
Melanoma. Pros and cons of sharing information to the patient are also discussed in this
assignment.
