Introduction
The lifestyle of people is changing very rapidly and it has become very much important for
them to understand the relationship between nutrition and diet. An appropriate balance of
nutrient in a diet is considered to be very much important in order to live a healthy life. I have
focused on my eating habits that are being influenced by many factors. We think that food
needs to be eaten for fuelling our body but the actual fact is that the majority of food choices
are being based on the enjoyment factor. Eating is considered to be an enjoyable experience
as we often select to each food that is very tasty but it imposes a significant impact on our
body(Maxfield 365). Sometimes, I eat foods that contain less nutrition but it can make me fat,
depressed and unhappy. I have focused on the importance of eating healthy food.
Main Context
Eating habits
I have seen children and teenagers like to eat fast foods, sweets, chips etc. But I think eating
high nutrient and healthy food is very much important for them. I have maintained a routine
of eating healthy foods which do not impose a negative effect on my body. In breakfast, I eat
eggs, cheese, bread, and milk. I prefer to eat fresh herbs, miso soup, apple salad, vegetarian
chilli, and cherries. I also eat healthy food in evenings such as popcorn, almond, and sweet
potatoes. In dinner, I like to eat fish, meat, salmon, and vegetables. At weekends sometimes I
eat fast foods and ice creams as I got attracted towards it. On Wednesday and Friday, I like to
have soups that are made of fruits and green vegetables. On the rest of the days, I prefer to eat
roasted foods. In the desert, I eat strawberries, pancakes or ice creams. I love to drink orange
juice and in soup, I like macaroni soup.
I have maintained a routine that ensures that I am eating healthier foods which are full of
nutrient. Sometimes, I get influenced by the eating habits of my friend because they prefer to

eat fast foods and other fewer nutrient foods. But I always think the consequences of eating
unhealthy foods and control myself to ensure that my body is not being affected by any
negative effects. Thus, I am able to keep low-fat products, more vegetables, grain foods, and
fruits. I also try to eat foods prepared at my home and avoid to eat from restaurants and
hotels. When I go to college then I pack my lunch prepared at home which allows me to have
control over my eating routine. I also make sure that I do not delay or skip meals in order to
avoid any kind of negative effect on my body(Pollan 235).
I have focused on creating a balance between my routine of eating healthy foods with
physical activities. Healthy foods enable me to increase my energy levels that are being used
while I carry out any physical activities such as exercise. I try to avoid eating unhealthy foods
by creating a list of eating habits which depicts the type of food I am eating and actual time
on which I should consume. Apart from this, I also know that consuming more or fewer foods
can also impose a negative impact on me. Thus, I keep a balance between how much I need
and how much I am consuming. There are essential nutrients which are being needed for
assisting the body to function appropriately that are carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. Protein
is required for boosting energy, repair and build body cells and also part of various
antibodies, hormones, and enzymes. Fish, poultry, and meats contain protein which I
consume. Carbohydrates are good for red blood cells and brain function. Fruit, vegetable,
bread, and pasta contain carbohydrates. Fats also give energy that is contained in fish,
poultry, meat, nuts, and milk products. Thus, health foods assist me to live healthier by
preventing any kind of diseases that can occur within my body.

The cultural, lifestyle and expert influences that influence the
decisions about diet and nutrition
Culture
Media and technology have been playing a vital role in influencing my decision about diet
and nutrition. According to research, it has been found that who watch television on daily
basis has more chance of having unhealthy eating habits. In our society, eating habits are also
being influenced by marketing strategies that might be or might not be better for our society.
We often see advertisements of highly refined and processed, unhealthy food which contains
fat, salt and artificial sweeteners that cannot be considered as a positive influence.
Job and work culture can also influence eating and activity habits as well as an individual’s
weight. There is a high probability of having a habit of unhealthy food if an individual is
working around food or taking his or her client out for eating on almost every day. Most of
the time job effects activity level which means if individual spending most of his time by
sitting or standing and not getting time to go to a gym or even does not find time to walk after
having lunch in that case the job is affecting his activity level. Eating and exercise habit is
also getting affected by an individual's income. It has been found that the woman with higher
income tends to be thinner in comparison to lower income woman. To some extent, money
can help in having control of life and affordable resources.
Lifestyle
It is well known to everyone that only healthy food can help in having a healthy mind and
body. That is why I prefer fresh vegetables over junk food. A conscious and personal
decision is known as a lifestyle choice that either increases or decries the possibility of
disease or injury. I do work out every day and I have included cycling in my exercise which
keeps me positive and physically fit. I choose not to drink because if you want to keep
yourself away from disease and damages to your internal organ in that case alcohol must be

avoided. It also increases the chance of death if it is being consumed over the defined limit
and at the wrong time.
Smoking is the other factor of having the worst health. I don't prefer smoking as it can lead to
multiple cancers, not just lung cancer. The other lifestyle risk factors are drugs, firearms, and
unprotected sex. I decided to follow a healthy diet in my lifestyle such as drinking plenty of
water, having a sandwich in breakfast instead of mayo and using mustard oil. I started by
replacing bad junk foods like soda, sweets, chips, and a burger with fresh fruits and
vegetables, nuts, whole grain, and low-fat dairy products. What I learned from my experience
is unhealthy food not only increase your weight but also increase the chance of depression,
diabetes, heart disease, cancer and much more(Zinczenko 455).
Expert influences
An expert has given me the key to being fit and healthy and the key is the consumption of
healthy food, plenty of water, daily exercise and proper sleep. According to an expert, a
healthy food includes whole grain, lean protein such as chicken and fish, healthy oil and the
plate must be filled half with healthy produce. A health care professional has advised me to
monitor body weight on regular basis and to remain under healthy body weight. There is a
direct connection between body weight and many acute or chronic diseases. I like to watch
TV shows related to healthcare and I remember an expert was saying that the diet is not only
an effective way to achieve a healthy body but a combination of diet and exercise.
There are multiple other benefits that can be achieved by doing physical activity on daily
basis. Even a small weight loss can help in reducing blood pressure. The most common
recommendation that an expert can advise for is drinking eight to ten glasses of water every
day. Drinking plenty of water can keep our body hydrated and carry nutrients to cells. Sleep
is also an important factor for being healthy and fit. I always prefer sleeping for at least 6
hours because proper sleep keeps me active and full of energy for the whole day.
