INTRODUCTION
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individual are seen suffering from worst diet related
issues. These are groups present within Australia and poor nutrition is the issue faced by these
people and this contributes to malnutrition, overweight, obesity, cardiovascular disease, tooth
decay and diabetes. The following report discusses about various risk factors for these people
and how they are affecting livelihood of these people.
Describe your chosen topic and how it affects one’s health and the health of the Community?
The chosen topic for this research is diet of aboriginal and Torres people of Australia.
Aboriginal individuals of Australia are indigenous people of Austalian mainland. According to
the statistics, it is concluded that Australians and Torres people are much less healthy than other
Australians. There is complex cause for poor dietary intake within Torres and Aboriginal
individuals. It is concluded that systematic review for managing dietary intake of these people is
limited to the effectiveness of nutrition education program (Treloar. and et.al., 2016). Poor
nutrition is known as a major factor which contributes to obesity and overweight among
individuals. These also cause high blood pressure, cholesterol problem, less vegetable and fruit
intake, etc.
There are several factors that affect poor diet and nutrition. There are several economic, socio-
economic and environmental factors which leads to poor diet and nutrition. It is analysed that 6%
of individuals within aboriginal and Torres communities have the functioning of hardware which
requires preparation, storage and cooking of food. There are few contributions for these people in
order to enhance their lives. Some of these are mentioned below -
Water is provided to them for drinking, washing, safe sewage, etc.
Proper disposal of garbage is also provided
Nutritional programs are given in order to make them understand the need of balanced
diet.
It is analysed from some statistics that two third Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander live in
remote areas. These face minimised variety and quality of nutrition food. There are few factors
which contribute to high cost of foods in rural and remote areas. These include increased freight
costs, higher store overheads, greater wastage of food stock store management practices and the

reduced economies of scale for purchasing and retailing in small remote communities. There are
several initiatives taken by government for providing support to these people.

insecurity. These people are often facing chronic diseases and obesity. There are several policy
level actions prepared for eliminating malnutrition within Different Form. there are no effective
evidence of food and nutrition policies for indigenous people and they are facing a lot of
problems related to health. Aboriginal and Taurus Strait Islander people of Australia have not
achieved food security. According to the statistics, it is concluded that aboriginal and Torres
Strait Islander people have to depend upon on knowledge of local plants and animals. When
there are European settlers, various problems arise because of insufficient diet and nutritional
problems. There are several ways for these people to manage phone security by goodnight level
of educational attainment, housing costs, house ownership and degree of food security. There are
various factors which have contributed 4 high food prices which includes freight charges, store
management practices, lower level of income and percentage of income spent on food is
increased. In remote areas of Australia, variety and quality of nutritious food are worse and
people living in these areas do not have sufficient knowledge about importance of nutritional
food. Normal people of Australia living in urban areas have more access to awareness about
importance of eating healthy diet and nutritional food.

for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples
Aboriginal people of Australia were known as pre agriculturist Hunters who had been
adapting extraordinarily life within variety of habitats. There were negative effects of

is concluded that health and equality add determined by various interconnected factors. There are
important determinants of indigenous health inequality within Australia that consists of equal
access to Primary Health care. There are indigenous health policy provided 2 Australian people
and according to this improvement of health status can be enhanced. There is another factor
which is young age and it affects app origonal and Torres Strait Islander population. There is
scope for manageing issues associated children and adolescents. There is increase in absolute
terms of size. They think that youth population requiers significant increase in programs and
services for keeping a proper pace of demand and maintain status. There is need to manage
various approaches of health. These include following

outcomes to manage different sectors of civil society. There are some legal obligations
analyzed for managing human right system.
Establishment of obligations of government which are needed for respecting, protecting
and fulfilling the right to health. This consists of Managing health policy and program
interventions so that services are accessible, appropriate, available and of sufficient
quality.

economic disadvantages. According to this statistics of 2001 census there was Rate for
indigenous people and it was 20% higher than the local Australians.

nutrition and diet to people so that they can live uh healthy life. There is requirement of strong
and efficient health care so that it is possible to provide support to people. There are some

among aboriginal Australians. Language is the most important component of culture. When there
is ineffective communication then it can lead to failure within health care outcome. There is
development of sophisticated healthcare in Australia but there is need to increase the
communication and minimizing the problems of inappropriate interventions and misdiagnosis
(Ferguson and et.al., 2017). It is an important issue for the health care professionals to maintain
cultural stereotypes among about regional Australians and Torres Strait Islanders. There are
some problems like law staff motivation, minimised staff confidence and inefficiency of
analyzing role and responsibility can affect the way to reach Objectives.
