Different Learning Styles and Theories Used by CN Supermarket : Report_2
INTRODUCTIONHuman resource development is basically increasing the skills and capabilities so theindividual can perform the work with fewer efforts and in the minimal time period. Thisreport focuses on the different learning styles and theories which can be used by theorganization for making the learning process ongoing. In this report, CN supermarket is takenwhich is operating its function in Singapore since 2005. But now the firm is facing issuesregarding excessive complaints from the customers about the behaviour of the staff andcommunication between them. So for this, different training and the development needs areidentified so that the employees can be trained and the complaints can be reduced. On theother hand, contribution of the workplace learning is discussed so that the firm can apply inthe organization to enhance the skills and capabilities of the individuals. TASK 1: DIFFERENT LEARNING THEORIES AND STYLES Learning is the life long process and it is important for the individual to carry out thelearning process. This is essential because with the help of learning only, the individual willseek development in ourselves. For this reason, the theorists and the researcher have madeseveral theories and styles due to which the individual can perform their learning process(Werner and DeSimone, 2011). This can be further explained by the Honey and Mumfordstyle as in this style, there are 4 stages which describes the method through which theindividual can gain knowledge regarding the task which he is going to perform. The fourstages are as follows: Activists- This can be categorized as they are the person who learn by practicallydoing the task. By carrying out their work they gain experience and further learnthe new things which will help them in the future. Besides this, they can carry theopen minded approach and they involve them fully in the work to attain theknowledge (Crook and et.al., 2011). Pragmatist- They does not directly apply the theories into practice. They are theindividual who first analysis the concepts and the problem and then apply thesolution to it. Besides this, they can be regarded as the experimenters because theyalways use the new ideas to carry out their work. Reflector- These individuals are the one which we came across frequently as theylearn by observing the things around. They see the other people doing the work

and by seeing them they learn. Besides this, they collect the data for the task andapply this in their work. The think about the activities which have happen at thattime. By observing and thinking over the things the gain knowledge andinformation as how to perform the task (Kraaijenbrink, Spender and Groen, 2010).Theorist- This individual focus on the concepts and the theories. They are fullydependent on them. In the entire task, they apply the theories and the conceptsbesides this extract the in information threw it. Learning theory Behaviourism- This theory states that the knowledge is outside the people and theindividual are blank and they must gain experience from the world. In this leaning process, according to the behaviour theory, learning process is carried out when the stimulus react tothe response. The learning can be depicted if there is change in the behaviour of the humanbeing. The whole theory emphasizes on the change of behaviour because of the stimulus andthe response (MacArthur and et.al., 2014). But the drawback of this theory is that it makes theindividual learn from the surrounding but it does not train the individual to help them insolving the problem and further it does not promote the create thinking also. The learnersperform the activity on the basis of the facts and the response which they have experiencedearlier. TASK 2 ROLE OF LEARNING CURVE AND THE IMPORTANCE OFWORKPLACE LEARNINGLearning curve is the curve which helps in indentifying the progress of the individualin gaining experience. Through the learning curve the organization can match theimprovement in the individual through learning. As it states that through doing the taskrepeatedly, the efforts and the time which applied in the task reduces and this states that theindividual has progressed in the field by learning new things. They are further termed as theexperience curve, efficiency and the cost curve. There is major role of the learning curve inthe organization which as follows: Capital requirement identification- With the help of the learning curve, theorganization can estimate the capital which is required for completing the task. Byseeing the efforts and the progress of the curve, it can be identified that how muchcapital will be required. For example: if proper training is given to the individual their
