Abstract
Times have changed and the present day cinematographers shot majority of their films in their
digital cameras and they are recorded in bytes and bits. Along with it, it is important to mention
that the resolution is better than the ones that are captured with a 35 mm film. A digital archive is
what is needed to store the digital media and will also facilitate with the option of making it
readily available. The films can be generally kept in the MKV and MP4 format which makes it
readily readable by a majority of the video players. original media consumption is always subject
to copyright even a copy of the media is purchased by a person legibly. However, the issue is
that such an item must not be copied and distributed without proper permission. The vital point is
that the complexities arise when the one experiences issues like the illegal transmission of an
original copies of the movies, and such an action will attract legal action from the respective
government of the countries. The basic steps that are involved in proper transmission include
printing of the old film into the stable film stock; storing the original copies into the places where
there is a cool and dry condition; while at the same time providing the access of the archive to
the general public through he fil copies, DVDs, and surrogate videos. Accessing the final stage
and is one of the crucial stage.

Introduction
Since Thomas Alva Edison introduced the movie camera in the year 1893, the
professional filmmakers and the amateurs have explicitly used the motion pictures to illustrate
the current events, explain the work of the government and the business, record communities,
and tell stories. Movies and not made in way that they will last, however it is important to note
that the commercial filmmakers and producers invest a lot of money into for the purpose of
protecting the film libraries. However, it is important to note that with the development of the
internet exhibition, cable, DVD, home video and television, and the sound films, it has become a
valuable asset for the initial release (Tryon, 2013). There are still certain kinds of film work that
include the independent productions, industrial films, works made for the ethnic communities,
home movies, newsreels, avant-garde works, anthropological footage, silent era films,
documentaries. While it is important to highlight that the preservationist fight for the
preservation of the films by protecting the original films and sharing the same with the public
through the copies (Maltz, 2014). This study will be based on the of preservation of movies that
are of entirely based on personal collection. This study will also focus on describing the hobby,
and my interest within it. It will also describe the context and the value of the collection as
appropriate.
Description of the hobby
I have a passion for watching movies that belong to the genre of action, romance, war,
biographies and war TV series. The list is never ending considering that fact that I have always
been a keen observer and passionate about specific film actors and actresses that are have
charismatic personality and acting skills. I especially adore and respect them for what they have
achieved in their acting career. It is important to mention that films, movies and TV series are
