INTRODUCTIONThe use of modern technology has brought significant changes in the workplace practicesas well as the personal experiences of individuals. Social media and other technicaladvancements in information technology has made it possible for people to explore the skills andknowledge without restricting to any subject or geographical boundary. The modern technologiesincluding social media has improved the methods of business practices associated withmarketing and customer management (Ngai, Tao and Moon, 2015). The report will analyse thesignificance of modern technologies in work practices and their impact on effectiveness andproductivity of the outcomes. It will also evaluate the role of social media in enhancingcommunication, information gathering and marketing objectives of business organisations.Effectiveness of using modern technologiesThe workplace operations can be made effective and less time consuming with the helpof several technologies. The use of these technologies enhances productivity and efficiency bysimplifying the processes. Some key technologies which can be used at workplace are asfollows:Technology 1: Cloud storageThis technology enables business organisation or work groups to store and manage thehuge amount of operational data assets on internet with the help of cloud computing. Within ashort instant of time the data can be accessed, shared and stored. Thus, the workplaces caneliminate the complex task of maintaining a separate infrastructure for data management.Benefits and issues:This technology is highly beneficial in terms of cost because with cloudstorage organisations does not required to buy a separate hardware and software for informationmanagement (Ramanathan, Subramanian and Parrott, 2017). Thus, the data stored through thistechnology is durable and secure. However, it can be challenging for the workplaces to activelydeal with the security vulnerabilities associated with the cloud storage.Comparison between different providers of cloud storage:Two of the most popular andefficient cloud service providers are Google drive and Microsoft one drive. Differentorganisations can use their features as per their requirements. For instance if it is required atwork place that cloud data can be delivered in the form of video tutorials and is also supportablewith phone applications in such case one drive can be better solution for the workplace because1

However, if there is need of role based approvals for executing tasks thenthis feature is not provided by One drive. In such cases the Google drive is preferred. There arecertain features which are provided by both the cloud applications such as remote access, accesscontrol mechanism and document storage which is not provided by other service providers of thecloud services.Recommendations:In order to extract the optimum benefits of cloud storage technique it isessential that the cloud computing must provide features which are in alignment with thebusiness objectives of the organisation. For instance for the organisation which provide servicesglobally web conferences and online office applications can are highly recommended while forthe small industries the web based email services may be sufficient in terms of cost andproductivity (Habibi, Laroche and Richard, 2014).Technology 2: TabletAnother technology which has brought revolutionary changes in the workplace practicesis use of Tablet. These portable computing devices allow users to perform their work at anyplace and at any instant. They eliminate the need of carrying bulky devices from one place toanother. The tablets can simply carried in hands due to their small size and light weights. The useof smart technologies and touch screen features have even made their use more exciting anduseful. At workplaces it is possible for the staff members to communicate with their clients orinvestors through video conferences and to manage their data by using the online applicationsrelated to office. The customers can also interact with the organisation by using the cloudservices which are supported by this technology.Analysis of technology:The technology is highly profitable from the business perspective. On just a single touchthe service providers can reach to their target audience. The portable and multifunctional natureof the Tablets have made them an integral part of the business processes (Lee, Hutton and Shu,2015). With the increasing dependency of technology it has become vital for the users to protecttheir data from unauthorised access.
