ABSTRACT
The main aim of the research is to identify the role of digitalisation in enhancing the
performance and productivity of the company. There are several objectives of this current
research which is defined as to analyse the impact of digitalisation that is beneficial for achieving
growth and success for Marks and Spencer, to identify the different types of digital strategies that
helps Marks and Spencer in improving its employee engagement. In current research,
quantitative data is gathered and analysed. The method selected for collection is primary and
secondary both and it is collected by using questionnaire and data analysis.
INTRODUCTION
Relevance of the Proposed Research to Business Research
Digitalisation is considered as an important part in an organisation as it helps in
delivering better results and in achieving growth and success in the competitive market.
Adopting digitalisation in the company is useful for the company as it helps in managing their
business operations efficiently and effectively (Truant, Broccardo and Dana, 2021). The main
reason behind selecting digitalisation by the company is to gain customer experience and more
advanced way of working for better productivity. Digitalisation helps the company in delivering
better growth opportunities which are necessary for improving the morale and motivation of the
employees in order to make them work towards achieving the goals and objectives of the
company. The chosen organization in the conducted research is Marks and Spencer, which is a
famous multinational retailer headquartered in London.
Place the proposed study in context
The researcher mainly focus on bringing change through digitalisation so that working of
the employees can be improved for increased profitability and productivity. The study is based
on defining the role of digitalisation in Marks and Spencer and its importance in developing
better working environment for the employees of the company. This helps the researcher in
gaining detailed knowledge about the chosen topic which is beneficial in conducting further
research. The research helps the researcher in enhancing their knowledge and develop better and
effective understanding about the topic which is important for achieving personal growth in the
future (Llopis Benlloch, 2018). This research also highlights about the different types of digital
practices which helps an organisation in improving their performance and productivity in the

competitive market. It is important from the view point of the researcher as it helps in gaining
both personal and professional objective in conducting future research more appropriately and
conductively.
Justification of the chosen topic
The current research conducted is based on the very important topic that is regarded as
digitalisation. Digitalisation is defined as the use of different digital technologies that helps the
company in changing its business model and provides a new revenue generating opportunities
for moving into digital business (Bakšys, 2018). It helps in retaining customers in the company
in order to increase sales and profitability in the competitive market. The chosen topic helps in
modernizing the operations of the business, accelerate efficient workforce, increase profitability
and strengthen security.
Value of this research
The following conducted research possess value to the researcher as it helps in giving in
depth knowledge about the topic for better understanding. This research is beneficial for other
researchers as it helps them in conducting research in the future in the given topic in an effective
manner. From the view point of the company it helps in providing better information about the
digital strategies for other companies that the present company is using so that they also improve
their performance and and productive to sustain in the competitive market (Rego, 2021). This
conducted research on the given topic is also helpful in context of students as it helps in
increasing their knowledge and skills which is beneficial in their academic value.
