This report explores the application of the DIKW model in the context of digital skills and research methods. INTRODUCTION
The DIKW model and framework is used for better knowledge management and data value
extraction. The DIKW model or DIKW pyramid is an often used method, with roots in
knowledge management, to explain the ways we move from data (the D) to information (I),
knowledge (K) and wisdom (W) with a component of actions and decisions. The main stges and
steps of DIKW model consists of:
 Data collection
 Information
 Knowledge
 Wisdom
Thus, DIKW model sets a proper relationship between the data, information, knowledge and
wisdom to support improved result and decision making during an investigation. The current
research work and study is based on analysing the role of the research work of Angela
Duckworth in effectively passing the CRAAP test. Further, current study also emphasis on
improve the student’s digital skills within the workplace along with develop awareness of the
importance of effective analysis of information and its translation into knowledge. The main
objective of current research work is listed as below:

 To investigate about the role of Angela Duckworth work in passing the CRAAP test
together with having improved skills and competency level.
 To evaluate about the ways to effectively develop and improve the student’s digital skills
at workplace.


 What is meant by phenomena of the grit along with determining its importance for
students?
 What vital role is being played by the Angela Duckworth work in passing the CRAAP
test together with having improved skills and competency level?
 Which can be the ways to effectively develop and improve the student’s digital skills at
workplace.
Data collection
Data simply comprises of set of facts and figures which are nit structured and meaningful
that are gathered as facts and stats to perform some analysis. Thus, data its own is raw and does
not provide any specific set of information until someone work on it. Various form of method are

there for collection of data that is being applied by an investigator for gathering facts. The type
of data that has been used for current study along with the method and approaches are provided
as below:
Research Philosophy- Positivism philosophy
Research approach- deductive approach

Research strategy- Survey
Sources of data collection- application of both primary and secondary sources of information
An implication can be made out that with respect to current study, collection of data has
been made through applying positivism philosophy which supports a more practical and
systematic form of data collection along with deductive approach that supports effective testing
and scanning of information. Further, there are two common form or type of data and research
method which are discussed as below:
Quantitative data Qualitative data
This form of data provides information about

With respect to current study use of quantitative nature of research data has been made as it
is easy to collect and present. Further, with respect to current study both primary as well as
secondary sources of information are applied to ensure that the adequate information is available
for analysis of information ad generation of the knowledge and wisdom. The primary data and
sources of information that has been collected by the researcher itself thus are more authentic
and reliable. On the other hand, the secondary source of information comprises of the data
collected by someone else that is easy to collect and less time consuming. Use of secondary
source of information is effective as it provides base and framework for investigation where as
primary data is vital to support the authenticity and reliability of facts. Further, application of the
survey strategy has been made within current study which ensure better collection of information
with the help of questionnaire. A small size of 45 participants has been selected from classmates
and other students for undertaking of current study. Following questionnaire has been used for
collecting information that is circulated to participants through making use of social media and
web link.

An information has been derived from current study that no participant tend to have 1

It has been analysed that creation and reading of the content in various platforms is an
effective way to develop and improve student digital skill as per 10 participants while 12
favoured effective communication through social media. 11 participants supported Sharing of
information and data through digital channels whereas 12 favoured Effective data analytics.
Knowledge
Knowledge in terms of research refers to the activity which is considered to be the most
important part of the research paper. One of the important aspect for performing a research paper
is considered to the knowledge in which all the analysis and findings of the research paper is to
be analysed by the use of this element in the research project. A research project enables an
individual to perform respective activity in the most appropriate manner. In addition to this, it
refers to all the related areas in which the business concerns is to be analysed this ensures better
presentation of research areas and is also considered to the most important part in which the
areas of the research project is to be evolved. For the purpose being in this research project
which provides explanation about all the digital platforms which is being used by the operational
firm is concentrated through aspect of knowledge. This enables effective manner of performing
all the related activities and also ensures proper allocation of resources. Further in this research
project knowledge about various digital platforms which can be used by a business firm is to be
evaluated. This enables operational working of the business firm in terms of innovation and also
creates better accountability towards presented consumer base in the given marketplace of the

business. Further, this enables an individual project manager to extract best use of resources
which is also an inclusion of pulling out best productivity of the given firm. Therefore, use of
knowledge related to the research have its greater importance in regards to the given research
project. This enables managers of the firm perform at the nest of the abilities which also derives
effective use of resources in the operational firm.
Wisdom
Wisdom, seems to be essentially an in-process state for human beings at least more like away,
than a settled destination. Perhaps incipient then is not the best description for this state because
it suggests only the early or initial stages of wisdom and seems to leave out someone such as
Socrates who has been on the path for quite some time. One of the most common claims about
the wise person is that he has a wide experience of life. This is the sense in which wisdom and
age are often thought to go hand in hand. Nevertheless, it seems clear that experience alone is not
enough for wisdom, even in an incipient sense. Virtually everyone who reaches old age has a
wide experience of life, but a much smaller percentage of them are regarded as wise
It is intelligence level of person. It is essential to have quality of wisdom. As there are various
situations in life that need wisdom to deal with them. A person that is peaceful and intelligence at
the same time achieves success and growth. It is seen that ll the students should meditation as it
will help them to concentrate and take wise decision. All the gopals and objectiovesv can be
achieved if a person leads with them smartly.
Comparison of research with the material presented in Week 7 called Data
collected by students in January 2020 about grit
GRIT is a personality trait that helps a person to accomplish the goals and objectives. It is seen
that a person that is able to to know about the their goals and objectives work in a significant
manner. Here, the data is collected in such manner that the passion of individuals are able to
know about their future. It is seen that all the students must work in such a manner that their
goals and objectives clear. As the the study the students form action plan and they work upon
that. In the survey all the stun dents were asked about their goals and in such a manner that there
goals and clear. It is seen that by the survey the students are able to understand themselves. In the
week we were told that all the students are important and it becomes necessary to understand

about their goals. All the students researched about themselves. A SWORT analysis was done so
that strengths were identified. That helped them to choose their area of interest. At the shame
time with the help of weakness the students understood the area that they do not have to choose.
It is seen that it becomes necessary to identify the opportunities and than choose a career option.
These importunities are helpful to make long term development plans. So, that a person should
work effectively so that no threat can hindrance their performance. So, it is essential to be ready
for the threats and work on areas that are strong. Overall grit helps to formulate long term goals
that will help the individual students in their development. A person must know about the goals
and take suitable measures that will help them top become successful.
Conclusion and recommendation
From the above report, it is concluded that research is integral part in a person's life. It
will help a person to take suitable actions. In this report there is discussion related to various
research skills that are required. Survey is also integral part of a research and it helps to draw
conclusion. A person must use all the important aspects as they help in development of skills and
take action. A person must know about them and then make long term development plans for
achieving success. In the end of the report there is discussion related to knowledge and wisdom.
