Dominique Issermanna French photographer that tends to
focus more on black and white photography. She has shot
many campaigns for big brands like, Christian Dior, La Perla,
Guess, Lancome, Tiffany and more besides. Dominique
Issermannhas been a big inspiration for me in my focusing of
black and white photography. Her photography inspires
purity, elegance and femininity, she always brings back the
old style.

has a nostalgic feeling. A
photograph that can take you
back in time, back into history,
it'll make you focus on the
photo only and not be
distracted by the array of other
colors, you can easily see the
difference between light and
dark. Black and white
photography is an art from

contrast, shadow, texture, lines
and patterns, it gives you a
different mood, it creates an
emotional connection and it
makes you stop, look around
and pay attention.

elegant way to describe feminism. I
chose this image because this window
display caught my attention through the
simplicity and elegance of these
feminine outfits. This photo is taken on

Author Judi Townsend, labelled “Queen of
Used Mannequin” shares her knowledge about
” all things mannequin”. Judi has handled near
enough every brand, make, style, size of
mannequin that has been produced in the last 20
years. It is a visual message that shows purity,
tenderness, femininity and when it comes to
colors, they can be fine and strong at the same
time. This window photography was taken on
the 4th of April 2012.

Statement of Intent
My idea in this project is to take photos of the luxury brand Christian Dior. It was
mainly colored photos of a brand, by working on the project I have decided to
focus on black and white photography, during this project I discovered the beauty
in the simplicity of black and white and the substantial effect it can have on the
photograph, I look forward to working with this method more in the future. I have
done a secondary research of luxury brand photographers and I have discovered
new way ways to photograph still objects and portraits. I have used a photo editor
to transform my photography in black and white. I think that taking product
pictures is very easy to work with, you can use your own imagination to arrange
the products and to work with the colors.

Evaluation
1. How did the mind maps and the mood board help you to develop your ideas?
• When I was creating this project mind map and the mood board, it was the
right time to put my ideas and my imagination into practice and it helped me
to choose the right images. Connecting the photography brand with my idea
helped me to find the right direction for this project. It helped me so much to
start my research.
2. What part of this project if any did not work well for you?
• I really liked this project and everything I discovered along the way. I
struggled a little at step 10 (Final Design Outcome), where I chose to draw,
drawing not being my strong point. I could have chosen something completely
different, but I wanted to get a little out of my comfort zone.
3. How did the research and investigation effect your final design outcome?
• The research I did on this project helped me find and understand the process I
was going through and all the information I needed. I believe that these
searches are very important in developing your own ideas and creating
something new.
