SOCIAL CARE SETTINGS

Equality and diversity is core strategic principles in health care sector. It provides proper
framework to support adult social care leaders in consistently to reduce inequality issues in the
community or organization. Care home is health care organisation which provide optimistic health
and social care services to adults, children and old people in the United Kingdom. The present
report defines meaning of diversity, equality, inclusion and discrimination. It explains potential
causes of discrimination in the nation. Further, it represents the legislation and code of practices
regarding inclusion, diversity and discrimination in United Kingdom. It represents that how to
increase awareness in people regarding diversity in the nation.
Task 1
1.1 Explaining of meaning of diversity, equality, inclusion and discrimination
Diversity, equality, inclusion as well as discrimination are described below in the table.
Diversity: Diversity state that recognise values and differences in humans. It contains visible and
non-visible aspects which associates many personal characteristics like culture, background,
personality and work-style. In addition to this, These characteristics are secured under
discrimination legislation in terms of race, gender, age, religion, disability as well as sexual
orientation.
Equality: Equality means treat people in a proper manner for their requirements by avoiding
discrimination factors in the society. This aspect also helps the people to behave and communicate
in a polite manner within community.
Inclusion: It is all about the providing equal opportunities for people by avoiding their gender, age,
ethnicity as well as background in the community.
Discrimination: It is illegal treatment with an individual on the basis of their religion, colour, sex,
race as well as disability in the society.
1.2 Describing the potential effects of discrimination
Potential effects of discrimination can be severe for individual in the organisation or society.
Further, It makes person isolated in the community. For example, social worker who is working in
care home organization in the United Kingdom. Management of firm discriminate with individual
on base of colour and religion. Effect of discrimination create negative impact on the employee
regarding its nature and working style in the care home. It reduce its working efficiency and
performance of individual in the organisation. In addition to this, It oblige the person to become l
patient by increasing mental tension and depression in the organisation. Impact of discrimination

also create sever health care diseases like heart attack which are harmful for person. Further, it
compel the individual to adopt illegal way to take revenge which is harmful for community or
organisation.
1.3 Explaining the importance of inclusive practice in promoting equality and supporting diversity
Inclusive practice play important role to promote equality as well as support the diversity in
the United Kingdom. In addition to this, it help to reduce the discrimination activities in the
community. There are many health and social care organisations which aid the individuals from
discrimination activities by providing proper justice in the United Kingdom. For example, Care
home corporation also uses inclusive practices to decrease discrimination in the various
communities of nation. Corporation aware government to take action against people who are
included in these type illegal activities by using proper rules and regulations in the country. So
inclusive and legal practices contribute effectively to support equality and diversity in the nation. In
addition to this, Care home play important role for government of United Kingdom by promoting
equality and supporting diversity in the people by generating proper awareness within community.

There are many legislation and code which contribute effective role for government of UK
to reduce discrimination activities in community. Care home organization follows these rules and
regulation in the nation. Some of them are described below the table.
