INTRODUCTION
Wearable technology is those electronic devices such as smart watch, which help to
determine the health fitness of every person. This study also helps to understand the importance
of wearable technology and its importance in daily life. The current study will shed a light on the
wearable technology and it also help to determine the impact upon the customer lifestyle.
Wearable technology
In this modern era of the world, every company and individual is depend upon the
advance technology and in the same way, wearable technology has different range of application
that provides range of benefits to world. These are also known as a smart electronic devices such
that activity trackers which are an example of the Internet of Thing that enables objects to
exchange the data as well (Nayak, Bhattacharyya and Krishnamoorthy, 2019). Further, it also
appears prominently in consumer electronics with the popularization of the smart watches and
activity tracker. Beside this, wearable technology is also used in navigation systems, advance
textiles and healthcare. Thus it is clearly reflected that in this modern word, these wearable
technology is also used for the commercial, personal and professional level.
Impact upon the consumer lifestyle
Wearable technology creates positive impact upon the customer lifestyle and currently, it
is amongst the most happening things around the world, which is continues to grow. The biggest
advantage of using wearable technology upon the consumer lifestyle is health and fitness. Even
many technology giants are planning to design new and advance techniques into this wearable
technology because it keep up to date the entire body system of the person. Like, from the fitness
bands or trackers who monitor whole activity and sleep pattern (How smart wearable influence
on our life, 2019). Also, the flexible patches also detect the body temperature, hydration level,
heart rate and muscle bio- signals from a human body. Thus, these devices with their unique
feature such that analytics allow the customer to keep track of their health. While on the other
side, the healthcare organization also uses this wearable device in order to reduce their healthcare
delivery charges by providing with Remote Patient Monitoring system.

delivery charges by providing with Remote Patient Monitoring system.
Apart from this, this wearable technology is also provide an ability to track the physical
activity and also store it to view at the later time. It is because entire world is more concern with
their health and that is why, they immediately switch towards smarts bands from traditional
watches. Also, by wearing these smart watches, a person receives a real-time notification on the
particular activity, which serve as a source of an encouragement and motivation. Along with this,
many wearable have built-in heart monitor which also give real- time reading of the person’s
heart rate (Verhoef and et.al., 2017). While, there were many cases happened where this
wearable technology help to save the lives, though it is not a medical device. On the other hand,
many of the people also state that it sometimes show incorrectly heart rate especially during
exercise.
Further, it is also analyzed that sometimes, it creates negative impact upon the human
lifestyle because many wearable tend to have little to no security measures in order to keep the
data safe. Such that most of the people transfer their data through Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, which
means they increase cybercrime because there is no surety of the data as these are unencrypted.
Also, this shared data becomes a big data to be collected and even cyber-criminals tracked the
information and start misusing this as well.
Moreover, this wearable technology is also help to grow the customer lifestyle especially
who belongs to healthcare sector. Such that by using wearable devices, it help to monitor the
patient data over a long period of time and professionals also use this because it helps to make
accurate diagnosis. Thus, it helps an individual to more exercise and better sleep pattern, while
for patients, it helps to reduce the strain as well (Nascimento, Oliveira and Tam, 2018). Further,
there is a positive impact of wearable technology upon Fashion and lifestyle, such that in
fashion industry, there are many brands which are encouraging people to use wearable
technology products. Even many fashion designers are also looking for ways in order to fuse the
fashion with technology. Such that Swarovski’s painfully stylish fitness tracker, Ralph Lauren’s
high- tech Polo Tee-shirt, Fossil’s activity tracker and even Gucci is also give a range of design
related to wearable.
In addition to this, most of the existing brand are also working towards their products
such that Fitbit and Jawbone prefer fashion over other everything else, but recently it launch their
product i.e. fine wristbands that looks more to a bracelet than a fitness accessory (Yang and

at the same time as well. Thus, it is clearly shows that wearable brand are help the consumer to
increase their living standard such that in past years, there is a sudden increase in the smart
accessories and jewelry sales which help to enhance the wearers’ lifestyle. Even many secondary
data also shows that the boxy screen watches with a cell from the yesteryear’s is now not in
demand but everyone is focus on the advance technology which provide range of new data in
more trendy way (Wiegard and Breitner, 2019). Thus, it increase the use of wearable products
and it also flourished the market in a best way.
On the other hand, most of the customers are also concern about the impact of wearable
technology upon the privacy and security of their personal information. In the same way, it is
also become a major concern for the manufacture and companies when they open new avenues
that serve many extra features but did not focus on customer’s security. It is not possible for the
company yet but they are focusing upon the current issue so that they will meet the demand of
customers and provide them best variety of products in range (Flavián, Ibáñez-Sánchez and
Orús, 2019). Apart from this, this wearable device is recently used in the Military or emergency
services such that they use walkie – talkie units and night vision goggles in order make proper
connectivity with the soldiers. While, UK police forces also have started using the head-
mounted cameras and personal data assistant in some areas of the country which is similar to the
car- video recording system in order to record the activities and figure out suspects. This
provides range of positive impact of using wearable technology upon the customer’s lifestyle,
but it also has some dark side.
One of the biggest darkest sides, its new security threats which people are concern but do
not accept it. Most of the people know that technology has never been free of the dualistic nature
of the reality. That is why, wearable technology help to make the life easy but in the same time,
it also have some threats related to personal privacy. Such that when any user log-in to their key
personal health data related to their lives on website, they do not have any idea about the
developers behind this and as a result, most of the personal data are leaked or sometimes hacked
by other and as a result, a user have to suffer a lot from this (Lee and Baker, 2017). It is so
because if the personal information is fall into the wrong hands, then it can be led to wide
at the same time as well. Thus, it is clearly shows that wearable brand are help the consumer to

because if the personal information is fall into the wrong hands, then it can be led to wide
spectrum of cyber abuse. That is why, it is quite necessary for every customer to know this
darker side as well.
Moreover, another threat is vague privacy policies because no one is aware of how their
wearable devices store, manage and protect the personal information (Dark side of wearable
technology, 2019). That is why, this ignorance and insufficient knowledge related to the security
controls leads to create negative impact upon the customer’s lifestyle. Also, there are many cases
where a user did not know that their information is being sold to the third- party through online
and mobile advertising agencies. That is why, it is quite necessary for the customer to know
about these issue and do not share any information through the wearable devices.
Overall, it is evaluated that this wearable devices are used by the most of the companies
and individuals because they think it will help to look them fashionable and also improve their
health. As most of the people are health conscious and that is why, they prefer to wearable
technology.
