1DISCUSSION - CONFLICT AND NEGOTIATION
Numerous social circumstances between persons or groups are categorized by conflicts.
Usually, conflicts take place in the forms of differences regarding considerable matters or
through sensitive differences. Conflict can be destructive and constructive which may result in a
collision, distress, struggles, competitions, psychological trouble, contests among others.
Sometimes conflicts occur in a business organization that is controlled to bearable limits, it can
motivate creativity and simultaneously avoid inactivity. Nonetheless, if these limits are
overdone, conflict simply changes to damaging and disturbing which can eventually harm the
business organization (Lewicki, Barry & Saunders, 2016).
Negotiation is considered to be effective from administering and resolving conflicts that
are accompanied by effective interaction, active attention and a sense of fair-mindedness in
resolving the conflict.
Recently a conflict situation occurs in my organization which can be considered to be an
intrapersonal conflict. This conflict usually takes place within an individual. It is a psychological
conflict which involves the principles, thought, moral values, and emotions of a person. It may
come in distinctive forms (Lipsky, Avgar & Lamare, 2016). A 26 years old boy, namely Jack
joins recently in the Marketing department of our organization. The head of the marketing
department states that the boy is very talented and dedicated to his work. However, he has some
psychological problems which have been identified by another team member of the marketing
department. The main thing is that in his team Jack is the only person who is black. Therefore, he
has some fear in his mind regarding discrimination on the ground of color which is a great
problem in the US. One of his colleagues also states that he cannot communicate with the other
members of the team and at lunchtime, he sat alone and never share his lunch with others.

2DISCUSSION - CONFLICT AND NEGOTIATION
To overcome this conflict, communication has been used as the conflict management
technique. It is a fact that effective communication helps to resolve many problems of the
business. For this reason, the HOD of the marketing department interacted with Jack and assures
his skin color is not a factor in our organization. Jack told him that from his childhood days he
was bullied in his school because of his skin color. Therefore, he cannot communicate with
others freely.
After that day it has been observed that Jack tries to communicate with the other members
of the team. He even shares his lunch with some of his colleagues. Therefore, it has been
observed that the technique of effective communication works in the case of Jack.
Apart from effective communication, the expansion of resources may also help Jack to get
rid of the fear of discrimination. It is a proven fact that increasing the supply of promotion,
opportunities motivate the employees to work hard and for working hard communicating with
the team members is also necessary. Thus, the technique of expansion of resources can also be
used for additional help.
