1DISCUSSION The WHO global oral health programme (ORH), performing within the department of non-communicable diseases, has performed a reorientation of its earlier objectives based on the new prevention strategy of non-communicable diseases. The newer objectives aim at developing policies at global scale to promote oral health. The reorientation of objectives leadstosimulationofdevelopmentandfurtherimplementationofcommunitybased preventionprojects(WorldHealthOrganizationOralHealth,2015).Theirfocusis emphasizedmoreonthedisadvantagedpoorpopulationsofcountries.Theprogram emphasizes its focus on developing health policies at national and community level to allow for controlling of diet and nutrition risk management associated with oral and dental diseases. Compared with the previous objectives, the new objectives focus more on building oral health policies to control the oral health risks. The program’s initiatives rely on modifying risk behaviours in relation to diet and nutrition. The program now aims to apply evidence-based strategies for oral health promotion and prevention of oral diseases (World Health Organization Oral Health, 2015). They are more effectively coordinating with external programmes to apply community empowerment strategies. The WHO news objectives act as impetus to the improvement of oral health at a global scale, for the developed countries. The initiative for developing strong oral health policies provides a strong support for oral health promotion and oral disease prevention. The nurses are spreading oral health awareness through promoting oral health education; they are including oral hygiene practices as practice essentials within patient routine to lead healthy oral life (Tonettiet al., 2017).
