It is important for parents to spend some time with their children teaching them
various things. You have correctly noted that the boy in the literacy was able to make the
sounds due to the support of the mother. It is quite evident from the video that the boy is
attached to the mother and feels comfortable about the environment. It is very important for
parents to understand the unique role that they play in the growth and development of their
children. It is also worth noting the great changes in development that occurs in middle
childhood (McDevitt and Ormrod, 2016). The girl in the emotional development video has
surely developed some emotional growth. She can tell what being happy is and can identify
when others are happy. In middle childhood, emotional development is relatively more
advances. You have made great observations concerning the boy in the literacy video. He can
clearly associate smiling to happiness and frowning to anger.
As a person gets older, they interact with the environment more and accumulate more
knowledge. As evidenced by the boy in the literacy videos, the skills of reading and writing
are better and more advanced in early adolescence when compared to earlier stages of growth
and development. Emotional development is also greater. The young girl in the video can
clearly outline the factors that make her happy and those that do not. In late adolescence,
great development has occurred. At this time, the adolescent has learned what their interests
are (Pearson Learning Solutions, 2018). For instance, the girl in the video acknowledges that
she loves reading. In addition, there is more focus on important things in life.

Learning starts at a very early age (Pearson Learning Solutions, 2018). Although the
brain has had little development in infancy, an infant can learn by what they see and hear.
