INTRODUCTION
Tourism and travel sector is a factor that help UK government by providing economical
growth and employment for the local communities and people effectively. The report will cover
impact of tourism and travel sector within UK in terms of positive and negative. As the tourism
help to increase domestic growth and economy development, management is necessary which is
discussed in this report.
Impact of tourism in economy and development of United Kingdom
It can be said that tourism has a great impact on economy in UK that it helps to drive
development and improvement of nation effectively. United Kingdom is a beautiful place and
there are also so many attractive things available for tourists. Tourists can be local or from
outside the nation for the purpose of visiting different historical and beautiful laces in UK. This
will help towards effective development of UK economy and will help to increase nation
development activities (Alexandris and Kaplanidou, 2014pp.125-127). The UK government
should take some initial steps in order to increase tourism within country such as management of
private hotels, development of historical places, advertisement and many other things effectively.

It is difficult to determine the actual position of tourism in UK that there are a lot of people
came to visit with various purposes and reasons effectively. Tourism has both negative and
positive impact on businesses and local communities that one of the biggest challenges is in
the sector of national parks (Seraphin, Gowreensunkar and Ambaye, 2016pp.325-332.).

National park should be wildlife and conserve enough to attract new visitors which will help
to increase tourism in UK effectively. The positive and negative impact of tourism in UK is
described below:
Positive impact of tourism: The most crucial factors of tourism that it helps UK people by
providing them employment and job opportunities. Tourists stay in hotels and enjoy food
businesses services and products that help to increase income of local communities and
economy as well. Tourism will also help towards preserve ruler service such as bus, shops,
post offices and other retail sector effectively (Bimonte and Faralla, 2015pp.179-192). People
enjoy the restaurants and hotel department services which increases the demand for crafts
and local foods. It can be said thee most of them came with the purpose of seeing wildlife
and different culture to enjoy and support local people and economy level as well.
Negative impact of tourism: Apart from benefits, there are a lot of negative impacts of
tourism sector within UK. In respect to this, damage will be done for landscape, livestock,
fires, erosion and disturbance such as noise pollution. Traffic also increases which lead
towards air pollution for local communities and people (Rogerson, 2018pp. 75-100). Local
goods are more expensive for tourists to pay more. Demand for holiday makes it too costly
for local people and also requirements to develop hotels and shops. Employment and jobs
may be seasonal with long hours working and low paid as well.
There are some issues in tourism sector in UK which are discussed below:
Continue advance of digitisation: Technology in tourism sector increasingly the expects in
order to plan and book their holiday from their smart phones. Technology has also a
significant impact on business and economy level of that particular nation.
Environmental impacts: As it can be seen that UK has a vast amount of landscape and
country land that the biggest negative environmental issues is destruction to the environment.
Tourism also affects ecosystem that is live in the natural environment in different ways
effectively (Dooms, Haezendonck and Verbeke, 2015pp.459-480). For an example, tourists
who spend their holidays increase 45% waste of Cornwall. Tourists also take transport which
enhances the emission gas of carbon dioxide which is harmful for the environment.
Social impacts: One of the main benefits of tourism in terms of social factors that it will help
to provide opportunity to create an ethical diversification. This will also help to provide a

chance for nation where all kind of different culture and religion can be practiced at one time.
Tourism enhances culture diversification and also promotes its own culture towards visitors.
Tourism can also lead towards local homes and mainly focused on improving economy level
in UK.
Economic impact: Tourism will help to increase economical growth and development.
People came from outside stays in hotels takes food from restaurants which will help to
increase local services and products. Economy growth and development will help to improve
local infrastructures services (Gant, 2016pp.1-9). However, some issues are associated with
economic development such as inflation of prices and increase efficiency towards goods and
services. The most important issue that there is large number of holiday homes but only
provides on weekends.
Black of proper infrastructure: In order to manage tourism in UK the government should
focus on infrastructure required for tourism sector such as water supply, electricity, roads and
sewerage (Roberts, Hall and Morag, 2017). Lack of such influences will decrease the
efficiency of improving tourism sector effectively.
Human resource: Trained and skilled workers required to assist tourists came from outside.
Human resources will help to manage various people according to their culture and
atmosphere. Guides, hotel management and other tourism sector related workers should
assist people carefully and effectively in order to increase tourism in UK.
Environmental issues: Environment issues such as population analysis, different culture,
trends and local communities. Such factors also affect the tourism sector if not analysed
effectively (Hartman, 2016pp.299-314). Tourism increases economy level and domestic
growth but also harmful for local communities and country environment. Air pollution, noise
pollution, wastage, social impact etc.
Current trends also affecting the tourism sector that people have their own choices and
preferences according to the latest trends. Such things prevent people to visits places which
are not according to their interests effectively. This will also decrease the tourism in UK. The
environment and nature of respective country should be effective enough to increase travel
and tourism sector (Page and Hall, 2014). This will also help to attract new tourists to visit

Market research is one of the best techniques to measure effectiveness of tourism sector within
UK. The process will also help to analyse current trend and packages for visitors in the market.

effectively. Changes in tastes, preferences and current trends in market is analysed by these
