Introduction to Rio de Janeiro
Rio de Janeiro is regarded as the second most populated city in the country of Brazil
and is also sixth most populated one in America. It is one of the most popular tourist
destination and there is a significant rise in the number of tourists visiting the place since
1980. It is to mention that the tourism related business in Rio de Janeiro comprises of about
80% of its total economy (Loureiro and Jesus 2019). The city is widely known for its breath-
taking landscape along with its laid back beach culture as well as its annual carnival. In the
year 2013, the city was ranked as the world’s happiest city. The great climate of the place and
the sun-soaked decent beaches aid to its beauty. This paper shall elaborate on presenting a
risk profile for Disney’s expansion to Rio de Janeiro in order to assess how Disney can
manage and lower down the risk that might influence the project.

Risk Profile
Rio de Janeiro is a great location for its closeness to the beautiful beaches, wonderful
climate and monuments. It is also one of the world’s rarest destinations that have powerful
cultural identity and climate (Soares et al., 2018). These factors give the city a strong
potential for being a resort vacation destination. It is indeed a great platform for Disney to
expand itself here. However, there are certain risks that are required to be considered by the
company while expanding here in order to manage the same and overcome them for
prosperous growth and development.
There are a number of risks that Disney can face during expanding the business in Rio
de Janeiro and they are as follows:
a) Language Barrier

KT Situational Appraisal:
By means of considering the above mentioned risks from diverse perspective and by
means of assessing the same with KT situational Appraisal, it has been found that political
instability and water crisis would be the main issues in the project. These two problems have
high trend, high timing and high impact and that, they are in high urgency to be solved. The
chances of these issues to increase further is high and that can be very serious. For this
reason, decisional analysis has been performed immediately.
a) Political Instability
Rio de Janeiro is widely known for its natural beauties. Notwithstanding this fact, it
has not been able of growing due to its political instability. The political situation of the place
is unstable at the moment with the impeachment process of Dilma Roussef (the President),
