(Armstrong and Harman, 2019). With the emerging advancement within technological trend in
business the employee relations trend has also create effective procedures and mechanization of
the activity task being performed through the workers. Higher advancement of technology is
significant in improving quality and also developed the performance at workplace. Technology
has transform the way of conducting business as advance and emerging technologies has
reducing the human efforts and develop their performance at workplace. Thus, emerging
technology is recognised to be the combination of assorted tools likewise robotics, artificial
intelligence and many other. These are main technologies that are being employed by an
enterprise to automate simple as well as repetitive tasks and to make complex decision speedily
(Oláh and et. al., 2018). In this present investigation Vodafone is the chosen organisation,
therefore, it is a large British telecommunication firm which has mainly operated from its
headquarter which is stated in London UK. The company was founded in the year of 1991, by
the potential efforts of Ernest Harrison and Gerry Whent. The company is having around 98,996
employees who are contributing their significant efforts in the growth and success of the
business.
Rationale of the Research
The research into actual action is based on determining the impact of emerging technology
on the performance of employees (Roberts, 2018). Therefore, this is a wide area of academic
writing which is efficacious in developing an individual’s business as well as academic skills.
The major reason for conducting this investigation is that it is a common considered
investigation area which has its wider influence over the progression and performance of

employees, thus businesses are mainly facing the issue of employee performance and this study
explores knowledge regarding the suitable implementation of emerging technologies in
developing employee performance at workplace. In addition to this, the another key reason for
executing this analysis is the personal interest of the researcher as the investigator wants to
enhance their idea and knowledge in relation to the specific area (Saberi and et. al., 2019).
Therefore, investigator wants to gather suitable recognition about the impact of emerging
technology over enhancing performance of the employees.

The key aim of this present project is “To evaluate and investigate the impact of emerging
technology on performance of employees”, a case study on Vodafone.

The main targets and objectives of this research conducted on Vodafone are as follows:

in organisations.
 To evaluate the positive impacts created by emerging technology on performance and
efficiency of employees.
 To investigate the negative impacts, led by emerging technology on overall performance

relation to the chosen study area (Chen, Yin and Mei, 2018). In addition to this, this area is

published articles and non published articles and so on. Therefore, this section is effective in
developing theoretical framework over the area of determining the impact of emerging
technologies over the performance of employees at workplace. Thus, this area is significant in
terms of developing theoretical formwork which in turns in creating value in providing wider

hypothesis.
Research Philosophy
Research philosophy is mainly referring as the belief in relation to the way and
phenomenon in that information needs to be accumulated, evaluated and analysed in appropriate
manner (Oláh and et. al., 2018). This section is mainly relay upon, Interpretivism and positivism
research philosophy, Therefore, the selection has been made over the data that are significant for
a particular analysis. The positivism philosophy of research mainly believes that reality is
constant and can be easily determined through an objective analysis. On the other side,
Interpretivism philosophy is mainly concerned with qualitative evaluation or intervention of
reality by study of a phenomena in their natural environment (Turulja and Bajgoric, 2018).
However, in this existing investigation work based on evaluating the potential impact of
emerging technologies over the performance of employees, Interpretivism philosophy has been
applied by the researcher as it is imperative in providing detailed analysis over the chosen study
area and helps in drawing valid and reliable results.
Data Sampling
This refers to be the most important area of an investigation; therefore, this section is
mainly based on probabilistic and non-probabilistic sampling (Xue and et. al., 2018). Thus, in
this present investigation work sample has been select at random basis, therefore, individual are

sample size for this particular analysis is 70 employees of Vodafone that get chosen randomly
under probabilistic sampling technique.
Data Collection tools
The choice of suitable tools are appropriate for an investigation to assist overall work in
right manner, therefore, this recognised to be the key consideration of the investigator is to assist
the whole work in right manner via making suitable selection of tools (Du and et. al., 2019).
Thus, this section is mainly based on primary and secondary sources of data collection, thus
primary research is effective in gathering fresh and efficient information which are gathered
through researcher through making their own efforts as this segment is appropriate in rendering
appropriate data as in this information is mainly accumulated through surveys, polls,
questionnaire, experiments, etc. are made to collect data from this source. On the opposite side,
secondary research is imperative in gathering information data are based on secondary aspects
i.e. in this information is mainly gathered through books, journals, published articles and so on

these two are efficient in providing actual data that are significant to assist the work.

2018). Furthermore, secondary tools are effective in developing theoretical framework, which

threat, workers give less attention on learning how to work on new technology. While remaining

Discussion on the basis of secondary research
As per views of Ravichandran (2018), on present literature review, it has been analysed
that demand of moving business at international level, creation of more innovations, keeping
competitive position at marketplace etc. are some key factors behind emerging technologies.
Development of each new system drives high growth and success in a firm. With regards to
Vodafone, which is the biggest multinational telecommunication company of UK, it has analysed
that behind its success, technology has played the most crucial role (Rodriguez, Peterson and
Krishnan, 2018). It helps this firm in keeping competitive and sustainable position of business, at
both national and international level. The other factors that forces this firm to keep update its
business with emerging technologies like Internet-of-things, AI system, Cloud computing and
more, is to facilitate management and workforce to perform their role more efficiently (Richards
and et. al., 2019). Through these technologies, they can work in more collaborative manner and
protect financial data, including other customer related information in efficient manner, for
longer period of time. These techniques further give support to management to increase mobility
of business, by allowing workers to work from any suitable place other than workplace, in order
to gain higher contribution and efforts of them for achievement of corporate goals (Dubey and et.
al., 2019). Along with this, implementing new technologies, also aid Vodafone and other
organisations to gain a number of benefits. It includes improving and increasing productivity of
business; developing performance of workers, reducing operational cost with development of
functional utilities etc. These advantages aid Vodafone to run business in more efficient manner,
through which high satisfaction of customers can be earned.
But through perceptive of Hosking and Anderson (2018), it has been further analysed that
apart from various benefits, bringing technologies in business also arise various challenges for
companies. It includes requirement of risk assessment before introducing any technology,
because a number of issues can be raised if prior strategies cannot be made. Such risk includes
changes in infrastructure that will alter working style also, which further leads to increase chance
of employee resistivity (Cano-Kollmann, Hannigan and Mudambi, 2018). Along with this, it also
increases threat of cyber-security issues, that requires management to monitor regularly each and
every transaction of business, so that confidential data can be secured. Similarly, regulatory

are some other issues, that raise challenges for management of Vodafone and other firms while
implementing emerging technologies. These problems also impact negatively on performance of
workers, if they didn’t get appropriate working environment. Therefore, it is essential for such
firms to make prior strategies first, so that managers can deal with these situations if happen

also to ensure that they are working in safe environment and will get proper advantages for
development of their career skills too.
Discussion on the basis of primary research
Through primary research which has been conducted on stakeholders of Vodafone, it has
evaluated that they are much familiar with the role and importance of emerging technologies
(Ishtiaque, Siddiqui and Ahmed, 2020). They are in much favour of company to update business
regularly with latest techniques or new systems. Because it would help them in keeping their
skills and knowledge updated with advancement of information and communication
technologies, as well as reduce their workload by doing maximum functions through automation
processes. This would also make them able to gain more opportunities to focus more on
providing better performance. As per their perspectives, factors which drive emergent tech in its
business includes – willingness to become more competitive; keeping customers more satisfied
with its unique products or services; increasing performance of employees and more (Geddes,
2020). But some factors like giving not prior information before bringing new systems,
inadequate trainings, changing working style and so on, also leads to demotivate them. This may
impact negatively on their performances and raise issues for management about their resistivity,
to work with new system. Furthermore, cyber-security threat, failure of new techniques, leakage
of confidential information and more, are some other main challenges faced by management of
Vodafone and other organisations, while implementing new system in business (Handa and et.
al., 2020).
In this regard, it has been analysed that one of the greatest things which needs to be
considered about new technology, is that managers can control a numbers of data points for
getting a clear picture regarding with usage and its effectiveness (Chae, Koh and Jeon, 2020).
However, monitoring the data and progress seems unnecessary and tiresome, especially when
performance of business is personally watching. Bu monitoring the data especially for when new

Conclusion
It has been concluded from this entire research that role of technology cannot be overstates
within business landscape. It is completely imperative that employing a workforce which is
techsavvy, forms a competitive basis for a company. Technology is also well-known concept for
keeping workers engaged in business, by allowing them to telecommute towards assign roles and
responsibilities. It also encourages employees to work in collaboration with each other in
positive way, for sharing files as well as essential information with real time processing. In
addition to this, new tech also helps in reducing the level of workers’ stress by decreasing
workload. Through this process, when assigned tasks of employees are completed within given
time, then it provides more job satisfaction to employees. They feel more connected with
organisational culture and perform entire work-related tasks remotely. Therefore, getting the
staff up to date with new emerging trends will not only boosts their productivity, but also helps
in earning their more contribution for achievement of both long-term and short-term gaols.
Today, in modern organisations whether small or big, IT department has become
indispensable, where experts are largely attributed towards changing dynamics at each level of
organization. Therefore, to develop sustainable competitive image, technologies plays crucial
role in business. Now, every firm relies on bringing ICT and other techs in big and
small ways, for increasing internal capabilities of business. There are number
of factors present that assists each and every organisation to digitalise their
corporations, which includes producing best quality of products or services
within less operational costs, keeping business update with changing in
trends of marketplace, moving business without physical infrastructure i.e.
through e-commerce techniques at global level etc. These things give
advantages to organisations in running business successfully, by facilitating
management and workforce to work with new techniques that reduces their
most of the manual work through automation. In this regard, the benefits
that availed by organisations, includes improvement in communications,
propelling of marketing function and growth, streamlining the business
decisions as per customer demand and so on. The fact about technology

Recommendation
As per above discussion, it has been analysed that keeping business update with latest
technology becomes essential for each and every organisation. But it may put negative impact on
employee performance also, due to increasing chance of their resistivity to work with new
techniques. Therefore, under such conditions, it is recommended to management of Vodafone to
concern on below points, that helps in improving performance level of its workers in following
way –
 Connect workforce with each other by using communication software – As effective
communication is essential for developing productivity of workers and bring
collaboration under them. Therefore, to boost internal communication and team
productivity, management of Vodafone is required to implement advanced technological
solutions in business. It includes chanty which ramps connection within large or small
teams through artificial intelligences. It helps workers to gain updated information about
business decisions and other related data through real-time messaging, audio and video
calls, etc.
 Keep workflows organised with cloud based projects – having synchronised and
easily accessible projects, will help managers to improve overall performances of team.
For this purpose, some management software tools like Wrike (a tool to manage and
collaborate teammates on projects), Basecamp (a project management software to bring

team together), etc. can be used that helps directly in improving team-collaboration and
their performances, for achievement of short-term and long-term goals efficiently.
 Declutter the digital workspace – As working environment puts direct impact on
personal and team-based productivity of workers. Therefore, to provide healthy and
positive digital environment, tools like Toby (keeps in organising, sharing and
collaborating the team with browser tabs), Magnet (a handy window manager that helps
in organising workspace), Station (organises the workstations for utilising entire work
tools simultaneously) etc. can be utilised.
