This DNP project plan proposal aims to increase early therapeutic alliance to reduce length of stay for patients aged 18 years and above in psychiatric inpatient hospitals. The proposal is based on the need to improve the quality of care within a specific practice setting using sound research evidence. The project is guided by the Peplau interpersonal therapeutic relationship model and the Plan-Do-Study-Act quality improvement model. The proposed intervention includes implementing a 10-minute hurdle before every shift to talk about therapeutic alliance, using the STAR-C and STAR-P therapeutic alliance tool to measure the impact of the hurdles, and conducting pre- and post-test surveys to measure the effectiveness of early therapeutic alliance in reducing length of stay. The project is aligned with the organization's mission and values, and the PICO question developed is: Will the increase in early therapeutic alliance reduce length of stay in patients aged 18 years and above in an evaluation and treatment hospital to improve better patient outcome and cost?
