READ THIS BEFORE ANSWERING THE NEXT QUESTION:
Key factors related to young driver crashes
The cause of crashes involving young drivers is complex, and involves direct and indirect
factors.
Direct factors include speeding, drink/drug driving, fatigue, distraction and failing to wear a
seatbelt.
Indirect factors (for example, an aggressive personality, over-confidence and peers who are
risk-takers) can impact on the likelihood that a young driver may take risks on the road, such
as choosing to drink and drive, which put them at greater risk of a serious crash. (source:
TMR)
Q21.1: This young male driver seems to be more interested in stirring up his trainer than
driving safely. What is one concern you would have about his attitude towards road safety?
STRATEGY: This may lead to crash and may harm and affect the life of other people. It
will be covered under direct factor.
Q21.2: Some students (and trainers for that matter) seem to think being able to perform a
reverse park makes them a great driver. Based on the information about DIRECT and
INDIRECT factors related to young driver crashes, what really needs to be the priority in
training?
STRATEGY: apart from being confident towards reverse parking, driver need to be
cautious about direct and indirect factors and their relation with crash. This is because
overconfidence and other direct factor may lead to crash.

Q29.1: What observation did the instructor make about the learner at the start of the
session during the introductory demonstration drive?
ANSWER: the instructor observed behaviour and focus of instructor during the drive.
READ THE PASSAGE BELOW THEN ANSWER THE QUESTION THAT FOLLOWS:
Scientists and psychologists have developed a number of different models to understand the
different ways that people learn best. One popular theory, the VARK model, identifies four
primary types of learners: visual, auditory, reading/writing, and kinesthetic. Each learning
type responds best to a different method of teaching. Auditory learners will remember
information best after reciting it back to the presenter, while kinesthetic learners will jump
at the chance to participate in a hands-on activity.
Q29.2: What learning style does the instructor identify in his learner early in the lesson?
ANSWER: here, instructor learning style was kinesthetic. He gave instructions to learner
during drive and then by driving the truck leaner participated in activity.
