Running Head: Dyscalculia
Definition
Many students suffer with the problems of math but in the perception of Haberstroh &
Schulte-Körne, 2019, Dyscalculia is a math relating disorder, which feels like insurmountable
and problematic to most of the students suffering from it. They have trouble solving math
operations, remembering the tables, keeping the information organized and in a sequence,
budgeting time or keeping the schedules. These people have a lot of confusion between similar
number such as 42 and 24.
Problems and causes
The students are never sure of the correct number they have been asked for, due to the non-
scheduling of time often the students reach late or quite early at the school. People suffering
from dyscalculia often feel pressure in brain while thinking too much on a constant concept. The
eyes bulges out and gets puffy due to the pressure created.
Strategies
In the views of Bugden & Ansari, 2016, people with dyscalculia have a deficit in the
ability of the brain to process the information with regards to number. There are enormous
strategies that could assist the students and makes them easier to remember and understand the
concepts well.
The problem shall be in the written format or shall be spoken verbally.
Drawing the problem can also help the students understand the concepts visually.
Splitting of the tasks into different pieces and working on it one at a time.
