INTRODUCTION
In today's world people are more spending on the online purchase rather than opting
traditional ways of shopping. This has impacted the business organisation and made them, to
shift towards the digital platforms. The growth of the digital economy has made people more
familiar with the online products and services. Which has emphasised the business organisation
to focus on developing the e- commerce websites for their business and to have a competitive
advantage in the market. The digital technologies has able to create the new value in business
models and customer experience. The digital business has evolved into more than selling and
buying of the products and services(Hanson and Kalyanam, 2020). This report will include
the brief description on the topic E- commerce with its importance, how it has developed,
technologies used in e- commerce, what technology platforms and software are been used, which
type of business organisation use the technology and e-commerce, how it is used a as business
tool and its effectiveness. At the last it will include the relationship between digital technologies
with the e-commerce.
TASK
Explain about the topic and its importance
E-commerce is buying and selling of products and services or transferring of funds or
data over an electronic platform. The services which are been provided online over the internet
such as transaction of money, funds and data which are also considered as E- commerce. These
business transaction can be in four ways such as business to business (B2B). Business to
consumer (B2C), consumer to business ( C2B). customer to customer (C2C).(Kabanda and
Brown, 2017).
E-commerce is considered as a huge part of the economy and it is very important for the
business organisations to have their own E- commerce platforms where they can sell their
products and services. As the e-commerce provides the ability to reach a wide customer range.
E- commerce is the fastest growing retail platform and it is very important for every
organisations to consider the modern technologies in order to attract the customers and maximise
profit through these digital technologies. The statistics shows that the 96 percent of the

Americans purchase the products online. The online platform is more convenient to the
customers in purchasing any kind of products. In today's world the customers value for the time
so he/ she wants to save time in visiting the physical stores which is a time consuming in the
busy schedules. This all things have made the e-commerce platfo5rms in playing vital role for
the business organisations and for the customer as well.
How E- commerce has developed
The history of E-commerce can be traced back in the early years with the development of
the electronic data interchange. It was expected to replace the fax and mail because it made data
exchange possible by the use of digital technologies. After 1979. an English inventor introduced
and developed the concept of online shopping. Michael Aldrich just finished his supermarket
errands with his life than he has a idea of hooking up their television with the supermarket to
deliver the groceries. He connected a television to the transaction processing computer using a
telephone line, by which he introduce4d teleshopping or shopping from a distance(Wan and
Chen, 2019).
Now in today's scenario there is no stoppage in the e-commerce platforms. E- commerce
itself has becoming a huge digital platform of the purchase and selling of the products and
services. The Amazon website has become the largest e-commerce website which started with
online books and now has come so far that anything can be sell and purchase through such
websites. The online market has become the convenient choice for the vendors to sell. promote
their products and services as well as for the customers to shop.

is used
There are the various tool and technologies which is required in developing the E-
commerce platform for the business organisations(Kayikci, 2019). It is very important to
include both hardware and software technologies in the e-commerce websites and the e-
commerce business plans. Some of the technologies are discussed below:
Database system- IT is considered an important part for the e-commerce websites. The
database is used to store information about the products and services of the business
organisation. Such as pricing, description of the product, image, sales detail. The business
organisations also stores the information about the customers like what are there frequent
orders, contact number, shipping details etc. it is important for the organisations website

to connect securely to the database so that the orders are processes correctly and for the
smooth functioning of the business.
Server software- when the user visits any website through the internet , the web server
knows that the user is requesting some kind of information. So it helps the users in
processing the correct information to the customers. It is necessary for the business
organisation to secure their websites through the4 software and for the smooth
functioning the server software helps the customers to find the exact product they are in
search(Guo, and et.al., 2020).
What technological platforms and software are used in E- commerce
The technological platforms which are used by the business organisations are artificial
intelligence, automated campaign management etc. The artificial intelligence is the technology
used in the e-commerce websites to find the valuable insights in the customer preferences.. it
also provide automation and transfer of data management operations to increase performance.
Running a e-commerce website included the various technological platform for the
business organisation. It is very important that the businesses use the new technologies in their
business. Adopting the online4 platform is a much way easier to attract the huge range of
customers and generate sales. E- commerce software is the back-end of the online platforms of
the online websites. It empowers the business owners to easily create a website to sell products,
manage inventory, accept and process the payments. The software which are used in the e-

managed on- site. This requires to purchase of the software by the business organisations
and they pay for annual updates. This is a software which every business need to adopt in
their server because to maintain the websites it is important that the working of the
website is smooth for the customers(Chiu and Cho, 2019).
Saas- It is a software that is build in the cloud instead of at the retailers location. This is
the technology used by the business organisation and return they pay for it. The update on
the websites and the functioning of the system is taken care by the third party. This
enables the organisation to concentrate on one particular thing and they can focus on the
products and customer reach.

stores to the online shopping. The company tried its best in developing the new technology and
for the better customer experience. Marks and Spencer also has its own website, or it can be said
that a e commerce platform for the customers(Jannach, Ludewig and Lerche, 2017). These
business organisations have developed and created a platform for the convenient of customers as
well as they are able to generate more sales through performing digitally. The another example
can be observed of Zara, which is using the e-commerce as a platform and it has been developed
in such a way that the business organisation has developed its website and perform its marketing
strategies through the digital technologies. The website of Zara is observed that the company
uses the black and white theme which attracts the customers. The digital technology makes the
website more attractive which means the use of the visual pictures makes the website more
attractive which help the organisation to attract customers.

Yes, e-commerce is considered as an effective tool for the busine4ss organisations. The
use of e- commerce has been becoming the most important factor for the business organisation.
Even the small business are now shifting towards the online. The online and the change in the

business uses this tool to generate more sales as it is observed that the people are highly
dependent on the online platforms and there is a huge market share.(.Xuhua and et.al., 2019).

business enterprises practices. As the technology is there in there in the market the customer
demand for the best experience from the businesses and it is important for the enterprises to
adopt that technology in order to satisfy its customers. The relation ship between the e-commerce
and digital technologies is that e- commerce businesses are using the digital technologies
actively in comparison with enterprises of the other industries(Wilson, 2019).

From the above report it is concluded that e- commerce is a platform where there is
selling and buying of the products and services. It is very important for the organisations to gave
the e-commerce platform for its business so that it can attract customers and generate sales. E
commerce is itself a technology which is used by many organisations. It is an effective tool for
developing and marketing strategies within the market. In today's world the 96 percent of the
Americans are dependent on the internet and online shopping. The various software helps these
e-commerce platform to operate smoothly and the business is able to run smoothly. The business
structures are highly dependent on the digital technologies. The use of digital technologies help
the organisation to develop their websites so that the customers do not face issue while
