#Part A
Introduction
Project Management Institute defines project management as the use of knowledge,
skills, and methodologies to project processes to attain project requirements. Project
management entails five main processes namely; initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and
control, and finally project closure (Binder, 2016). This research shall discuss the management of
a web development project for an ecommerce startup. This entails all the processes from
initiation to completion. A review of the plans and objectives of the project to determine whether
they were achieved is also conducted.
Project Initiation
During the project initiation stage, the project manager met the client to establish his
requirements and specifications. The objectives, scope, and project deliverables were defined.
The occurrence of the planning process is dependent on the success of the project initiation
process (Martinelli & Milosevic, 2016). The client wanted a website that would enable
marketing and selling shoes and clothes online. The website would also have a live chat area that
enables customer service agents to communicate with customers in real time. As the project
manager, I team of three experienced web developers to undertake the project. The client and the
project manager estimated that the project would cost $10,000.
Project Planning and scheduling
The project team met to define SMART goals for the project. Considering the budget,
scope, and time lines given by the client, the project team created a work schedule that completes
the project management process in three months. Weekly milestones were developed in order to

form the foundation for the for continuous progress evaluation. The measurable goals would
assist in the monitoring and controlling process (Kerzner, 2017). The system functionalities that
would aid in the achievement of project objectives were also defined. The project stakeholders
were the project manager, developers, client, and the end users.
Project Execution
The Agile methodology was used in the project in the execution of the project. It is an
iterative and team based methodology that insists on fast delivery of the website with complete
and functional elements (Kerzner, 2017). Links and databases were created through team work.
Whenever stakeholders disagreed, an established method of conflict resolution was undertaken.
Developers for instance communicated with each other effectively and gave each other an
opportunity to present their views before they arrived at any collusion. The project manager
coordinated communication with the client who periodically checked on progress.
Monitoring and Evaluation
Monitoring and evaluation was undertaken weekly to establish conformity to plans. The
actual progress was compared with plans to determine variations. Abnormal variations were
noted and procedures put in place to ensure conformity to plans. Time, schedule, and budget was
reviewed. This ensured that the project is conclude within the schedule and within the budget
already agreed upon.
Project testing
When the coding process had been completed, the system was website modules were
tested. System testing also enabled the site as a whole to be checked to ensure the end user has an

months, the project was already complete and accessible through desktop computers, Mac, and
phone platforms. The business objectives of the project were achieved and thus the company can
now market and sell its products on its website. The project attained the agreed quality plans of
