E-PORTFOLIO
Introduction
An ePortfolio is a collection of evidence to show learning overtime in an electric
format. The collection of work evidence is taken in relation to courses taken in workplace
development, study programs and writing samples which shows a person development in a
courses or the improvement.
Structure and organization of plan:
States the purpose/aim of developing the ePortfolio
The main purpose of an ePortfolio is to give students a wider or a broader scope, scaffolded
and a greater integrated experience in learning in preparation for a convenient professional
life. Most of the research conducted shows that with the use of ePortfolios students have a
higher chance of getting employed after graduating (Abuzaid, Elshami, David, & Stevens,
2017).. e-Portfolios also help as a reflective tool by students in learning and increasing their
employability levels. It also works very well as a compelling digital resume and the employer
can give feedback and comment on the students’ performance.
Sets out a coherent narrative of the development process
The development of an ePortfolio starts with understanding the purpose and importance
of the ePortfolio. The second step is the understanding of the criteria for evaluation
process. The third process is thinking about the organization, presentation of the portfolio
and closely thinking and reading through each competency (Anderson, et al, 2017)..
Collecting the evidence of the achievements of the students for inclusion in the
ePortfolio and adding them to the canvas of the ePortfolio. Selecting the materials to
become part of the ePortfolio and showing evidence to begin the selection process.

E-PORTFOLIO
Proposed plan is relevant to career development in a nursing specialty
The proposed plan is relevant even for a nursing student. All the nurses and the nursing
profession wants competency based institutions with quality graduates. The e-Portfolio
will show the students’ abilities in the institutions through thorough evaluation of skills
and academics (Hamilton, 2016).
Selection of theoretical/conceptual material:
Demonstrates an understanding of the emerging role of ePortfolios in career
development
E-Portfolios are a rich source of both the faculty and students to learn about their
achievements and important outcomes overtime. With the competitive nature of the job
market, graduate employers seek to employ the brightest and best student who provide a
better cultural fit to the organization. Good grades shown on the e-portfolio are great but
are not critical for the employer (Händel, Wimmer, & Ziegler, 2018).. The employers are
looking for a well-developed student with quality characteristics and employability skills
as they look for the best potential hires. E-Portfolio in many colleges and universities are
not only viewed as a tool to improve a students learning experience but also to enhance
the employability skills, professional identity and career development.
In an evolving and diverse employment landscape, graduates are being required
to operate successfully within the organizational setup in a complex environment.
Developing of theses graduates who are all rounded and well equipped to operate
successfully in an employment setting is a top priority for higher learning institutions.
