INTRODUCTION
There is a brief discussion in the report of the factors which I have developed from the
learning and module. There are a lot of factors which needs to be considered while planning a
portfolio which I have observed and will be discussing in the further report. Learning in any
form is always helpful to improve individuals and people as well which is going to be discussed
which I have developed from the module.
MAIN BODY
SUMMARY
There are a lot of factors which I have considered while making a portfolio for myself which
I learn from the module so that I can have a better impression of myself. Communication is a
very essential factor for the companies to function effectively and efficiently in the market which
is present in me and is going to reflect in the portfolio as well. I have a strong presentation skill
as well in me which am making the functioning of me effective in the market which is a great
factor. My learning style for everything is different and good for me because I tend to learn them
in such a way that it keeps with me for a long run. It is very important that all the experiences we
have in the market have to be known by us so that in future they can be implemented in some
way or another (Gott, Bauer and Long, 2019). There is a skill in me which am creative thinking
and problem solving which is a great factor in me so that there is a better functioning of the
surroundings around me. I have done a lot of projects in the past which is making me get an idea
of the factor which are important for me. I learnt from them that there is a form in which they
should be presented so that the topic and view which I want to present is effective and formal in
nature which is going to make some change. In organizations there are a lot of new ideas which
is required because trends and customers expectations keep changing which needs to be met so
that the portfolio of the company and individual can be maintained for a better future. My
reading skills are very good which is why I am being able to understand faster and time
management in me is strong which is very essential in individuals if they want to achieve their
objectives in life.

REFLECTION ON THE SELECTED THEMES
Academic writing
I have found out that the academic writing skills are extremely necessary and important in
both academic as well as professional field. I have used academic writing in the development of
my portfolio because it not just helps in conveying the ideas and thoughts behind the reason for
communication but it also enhances the degree of professionalism in the manner in which that
written communication takes place (Cook-Cottone, and Guyker, 2018). I can adequately
conclude that the use of academic writing skills was extremely important in the completion of
the portfolio that I developed and this will further help me in the professional career that I intend
to develop. I even plan to work upon it regularly so that I can further enhance and improve the
academic writing skills that I possess.
Evaluation of sources
In order to develop better understanding related to the portfolio and to identify the relevant
articles, books etc, that could have helped me in creating an excellent portfolio, I took assistance
of a wide array of useful resources and these can ultimately help me in the development of a
better portfolio (Parmar, Balsara and Jaywant, 2020). I took assistance of books and articles that
have been published, online research papers and websites etc. that have assisted me in
developing a better plan. Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill was one of the most influential
book that I read and used as well as it helped me in understanding myself and identifying hat
kind of a character , skills etc., I possess as an individual. Therefore, I took assistance of many
useful resources and plan to do so in future as well.
Communication in academic and professional contexts
The major tool of communication in both academic and professional contexts includes the
written communication as a major tool. It is important to regularly engage in a interexchange of
communication with the seniors and juniors in academic environment as well as in professional
environment (Popović, Stolić and Kavaja-Stanišić, 2019). This can be done using oral
communication as well but the manner of communication should be extremely polite, well
developed and proper i.e. there should not be any mistakes or unnecessary errors while
communicating and the tone should be extremely respectful. Therefore, using correct
communication tactics and strategies will help me in my professional life in future as well where

Reading Skills
I think that the reading skills are extremely necessary in the academic environment as one
cannot develop any knowledge before understanding it first and then comprehending it. I have
undertaken reading activities immensely as these have contributed heavily in the development of
the current portfolio that I developed and then it has also helped me in development of better
understanding and contexts related to the subject material (DeCoux, 2016). I can also evidently
say that if the reading skills are developed well, then the imaginative power of an individual also
increases as they are able to picture the exact scenarios along with the reading of the writer text.
Therefore, I can conclude that the reading skills are also extremely important and contributed me
very much in the development of professional portfolio.
Presentation skills
The presentation skills require both i.e. good communication as well as speaking abilities.
In the professional as well as academic writing,, it is necessary to develop better presentation
skills because whole speaking, the key is that the audience should be listening attentively to
whatever I have to say and further I should also be communicating in a flawless manner (Knoll
and et.al., 2017). Only in this way, I would be able to say effectively whatever I have to say and
present my point of view or my part clearly before the audience. In the academic and
professional contexts, the presentation skills would be required on a daily basis as I have
experienced in academic environment already. Every time my opinion is asked I must know how
to address them and therefore this skill is also necessary.
Research Skills
The research skills signifies the ability I have to select the resources that will contribute in
my piece of writing effectively and will contribute to whatever part or topic I have to present.
This skills is not very well developed in me as I often tend to overlook the things that could have
effectively contributed and additionally the time that I take in researching is also very much
(Terri Brown, Newton and Seeley Sr, 2017). I can say this is important because after I learn the
key to researching, I understood how my work can improve drastically and become more
authentic if I know what kind of data do I need to present and from which sources.

Paraphrasing
The art of paraphrasing is another necessary component in the development of the
professional career as well as excelling in academic life paraphrasing basically indicates how can
an already structured sentence can be restructured in order to present it in a different manner
without changing the essence of the text (Singh, 2017). This is also a very important skill in
professional career because it is necessary to present some necessary facts and figures as they are
but the plagiarism claim should also be avoided. This can be done only when the paraphrasing
skills are very well developed. Therefore I can adequately state that the paraphrasing skills are
also very important.
In- text referencing
The in- text referencing is more of a ethical aspect than the skill development because
when reference in is done, the writer is able to correctly give the proper credit to the author who
published that paper form which the adequate credit or reference has been taken for the current
written communication or oral communication as well (Van der Heijden and Spurk, 2019). This
is an extremely important attribute in the ensuring of the fact that the no unjustified content is
copied or ethical aspect is compromised with.
Learning styles
The learning styles are another aspect that I included in my portfolio development where I
categorised the different means through which learning can take place. These can be done
through visual learning; verbal learning, physical or kinaesthetic, aural, logical, solitary and
social style of learning and collectively these all can be used by an individual to develop
comprehensive learning (Kelley, 2017). I have used all the learning styles for my academic
portfolio development except the use of aural style where audio and music is used to develop
learning and I can effectively conclude that all the strategies are extremely effective in creating
better learning for the academic and professional environment.
Avoiding of plagiarism,
Plagiarism is an extremely negative aspect of any written assessment where it immediately
leads to development of a negative perception that can lead to creation of major problems. I
believe that an act of plagiarism is unjustified if it arise more than a certain percentage that is
often unavoidable (Mackay, 2017). By effectively using the paraphrasing sills the plagiarism can
be avoided and necessary reference form already published data can also be taken. Bu this should

not be done by copying the exact idea of someone else’s work in our own work and that too
without proper credentials. Therefore, this is a very important aspect because plagiarism
indicates an unprofessional individual in both professional and academic contexts.
Creative thinking and problem solving ability
I consider innovation or creativity as an essential element in the academic and professional
learning because if I am not able to think beyond the league or if I do not identify the
opportunities that others cannot see, I will soon become redundant and this will lead to the
negative impact on my career as well. In my portfolio development as well, I have tried to be as
creative as I could possibly be so that I can create a sense of likeability for myself thus increasing
by chances at employability (Gott, Bauer and Long, 2019). Another skill that is extremely
important is problem solving skill and this is associated with quicker decision making skills as
well. If there are any conflicts within the organisation then I should be able to adequately address
them without increasing them and in situation of crisis as well I should be able to identify the
correct solution as quickly as possible and then implement it without much delay. Therefore, I
can adequately say that the creative thinking and problem solving has helped me in academic life
and will further assist me in professional life as well.
Numeracy skills
The numeracy skills are extremely important in all stages of life where it is important to
ascertain the skills that will adequately assist in the development of correct and properly
reasoned decisions (Cicero and et.al., 2017). I can evidently say that my numeracy skills are very
well developed and this has helped me in taking an added advantage throughout my academic
life. I expect that it will assist me in my professional life as well because the major decisions that
are taken are always justified with quantitative data. Therefore, I can adequately say that these
skills are also equally important.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it can be concluded that there is a need for individuals to have a
strong portfolio of themselves which is going to help them to get their desired job. Satisfaction is
a very important factor with the work the individuals are going so that there is a better
functioning.
