purchase of associated updated equipments that improves the experience of gaming. These
online games also earn the revenue from the advertising of different products or services over
their platform. It was identified that this majorly has negative image due to its impact over
children’s. One of the the online game aspect that was in spot light named as Loot box. Here,
buyers does not have information about what they get from the purchase. This nature of game
aspect argued by people as this was similar in nature of gambling and designed in the way that
buyers get addictive. There were many news also came with the raise of this point about empted
bank account of parents due to accessing such online games by their children’s. This creates the
negative impact of online gaming in market and diminishes the image in front of society. The
organisations prevail in this industry is needed to identify such different issues and adopt the
measures that will help to remove the same. In this regard, they focus over identifying ethical
dimensions of issues and work over their elimination (Lozano, 2012).
The two issues which were present in case study includes purchase of premium features
in free game and options where don't have information about rewards. The ethical dimensions
which were present in both identified issue includes;
First issue is about purchase of premium features to get better gaming experience in free
games. This stimulates the demand of different person's to join the game due to its free nature.
The ethical dimension arose in this case when option is present regarding the purchase of new
features to get premium experience or to playing game in future for further extra stages. This
action of the online game organisations is unethical in nature as no information is provided
earlier and once they get interest, they have to purchase options that resultants into financial loss.
It is the duty over the organisation that while they provide product or service then must provide
information about all related aspects. In free gaming, gamers have the idea about its free playing
till end along with usage of all features. This creates the misunderstanding and negatively
impacts the image of online games in market. Also, they start saying about the use of unethical
practices by online game organisations to attract different individuals of society (Dyllick, 2015).
Second issue is about options where don't have information about rewards. While playing
online games, many options were presented regarding purchase to get unwanted benefits that will
improves the experience of gaming along with aid in effective competition to competitors. The
ethical dimension associated with this point that brings an addiction in gamers nature to get
something extra on the purchase of such options. This resultants into purchase of different online

options and loss of money in the activities where there is no guarantee of attaining effective
returns. This stimulates the gamers to repeatedly focus over the purchase of such options to get
something valuable. This exercise is considered as unethical nature that creates addiction in
individuals.
The different number of factors which were present in these issues and considered as
unethical in nature includes insider purchase on the name of free and providence of greedy
option to stimulate purchase behaviour. The option of insider purchase in unethical in nature
because of its presence in free online gaming without providence of information. On the other
hand, the aspect which is unethical in nature is about providence of greedy options to persuade
their buying behaviour. This develops the nature of addiction which has negative presence in
society due to failure of many individuals due to adoption of same behaviour (Smith, 2018).
The main role of businesses in society is to provide the products and services which are
of good quality and provides benefits too. The organisations are needed to working with the aim
of benefiting society instead of earning profit only. They have to working over adoption of such
measures that minimise the negative impact of their business activities and allows to live their
healthy life. Also, the have to focus over production of qualitative materials in low cost so each
individual of society can consume and take benefits in equal manner (Kagan, 2018).
The main stakeholders which are associated with online gaming organisations are
employees, individuals, government, investors etc. All have their own interest within business
functioning and along with same they can get impacted. The stakeholders that have major
interest in such business activities includes individuals called as gamers and employee's. These
are main two that will be impacted majorly from the ethical issues identified above. Gamers
impacted in the form of misrepresentation of information and addiction that lead towards
financial loss . On the other hand, employees get impacted as the organisation will be fined for
their unethical operations from the government side and formulation of new legislations that
limiting work in market (Haski-Leventhal, 2018). Government impacted because they have
major function relating to protecting the rights of individuals by restricting performance of
unethical activities. Investors impacted because they have major aim of getting significant
amount of return which is not possible in future because of unethical practice. Normal
individuals impacted because they have faith over organisational functioning and government
regulations that diminished due to presence of unethical practices.

The two different examples are presented below that demonstrates how acceptance of
ethical choice help to gain benefits and vice versa. Examples are defined below:
Application of effective CSR approaches by TATA depicts the adherence of ethical
values where everyone get equal benefits either employees or society (TATA CSR, 2019). The
different activities includes Aarogya for health, vidyadhanam for eductaion, seva for volnteering
etc.
Usage of defeat device by Volkswagen depicts the application of unethical practice
regarding passing of their cars in environmental impact test. The negative impact ascertained on
its determination as negative image and call back of all cars that resultants into financial loss
(Use of defeat device by Volkswagen, 2019).
It is recommended to an organisation that focus over acceptance of approaches which are
friendly in nature does not have negative impact over anyone. To getting rid of the current
situation they have to remove the option of loot boxes from game. Also, they have to fix all the
systems that requires internal purchases because game is ultimately provided free of cost to
users. They have to adopt the best ethical practices as this will aid in creation of positive working
culture. They must focus over accepting the views of other so that innovation can be ascertained
in organisation along with provide of equality opportunity of growth (Ennals, 2014).
(b). Usage of two various ethical theories in finding the opinions over the idea of ethics in
connection to the chosen case study
The two different theories which are selected to analyse the opinions over the concept of
ethics in relation to the issues of case study includes egoism and utilitarianism.
The theory of ethical egoism said about promotion of one's good is moral in nature. In
accordance to this theory, the model adopted by online gaming businesses is ethical because they
get benefits and promotes the business at worldwide level. In addition, egoism is the normative
ethical position that moral agency ought to act within their own self-interest. Moral agency or
agents is a person's ability in order to make judgements that is based on few notion of wrong and
right as well as to be held responsible for these actions. This theory differs as of psychological
egoism, which claims that group of person can only enactment in their self-interest. According to
the case study of EA Games, there is unethical information about the games to the customers.
For example: in Loot boxes, there was missing information about the items or benefits

previously but if client purchase this game, it charge amount and there is no surety what will be
the results. As it is unethical and in order to overcome this unethical situation, egoism is a best
theory by providing actual data about the game.
The another theory is known as utilitarianism. This focus over aspect that and action will
be ethical if benefit is derive by maximum number of people. In current case of online gaming
business, benefit is derived by organisations only. Government along with consumers gets
negative impact. This theory depicts the such actions as unethical in nature. In addition,
utilitarianism is another theory which advocates actions that foster pleasure or happiness and
opposes actions that origin harm or unhappiness. One of the main advantage of using
utilitarianism theory is it supports reporters to be capable to balance news. This theory will help
societies by providing accurate and current news about the games and their features.
It is the prime duty over management of an organisation that focus over adopting the
ethical theory which provides the option which will be morally good irrespective of the option
that delivers to maximum or some single (Cornuel and Hommel, 2015).
PART 2
Determination of the aspects that will aid in formulating ethical leader and effort of an ethical
manager towards development of high standard organisation
Leaders are different from managers. The main purpose of leader is to perform functions
that aid in development of culture which will be positive in nature and contribute towards
creating support behaviour among all members. The functions majorly performed by leader
includes guiding, directing and supporting to members in their difficult time for attaining
individual and organisational targets. On the other hand, the main purpose of managers within an
organisation is to integrate the different departmental functioning with organisational objectives
to attain same level of competence as decided by higher management (Hilliard, 2013). In this
regard, the different functions performed by a manager within an organisation includes allocation
of duties and responsibilities, creating business standards, performance evaluation and
determination of measures to improve business performance. The above description clearly
depicts the difference between the two leader and manager. The difference is presented on the
basis of their roles and functions within an organisation.

Ethics is the concept about acceptance of action which is fruitful in nature and morally
correct that benefits all possible associates in positive form. The main role of ethics within an
organisation is to create the culture or structure where all will follow same kind of values and
morals that aid in performance of right conducts only. Application of this concept brings
uniformity and allows to differentiate between the right or wrong conduct on the basis of
mentioned values and morals. This will have large number of benefits to an organisation includes
creation of uniform workforce, removal of discrimination, positive working culture, supportive
employees, friendly environment etc. Presence of all these aspects provides an opportunity to an
organisation in attainment of competitive edge along with attainment of desired targets. The
ethics existence within an organisation, also played the supportive role in creating ethical leader,
manager and employees (Trevino and Nelson, 2016).
According to me, ethical leaders are those which are working towards application of
decisions that are morally correct in nature and have positive effect over others. There are
number of aspects which are must to have by leader to be ethical in nature. These are also known
as qualities. The different amount of qualities that will aid in development of ethical leader
includes justice, respect, honesty, humanity, focus over team-building, encouragement of
initiatives, value driven decision making etc. The role of each and every quality is separate
behind creation of ethical leader. For ex., quality of justice help in providence of equal chance to
all and accept the one which will be accurate in all manner. This will creates the positive
perception among organisational employees towards leader that nothing can be performed which
will be against to their will and impacts their job in negative manner. The trust of employees
will be easily gathered by an ethical leader that contributes in development of effective
workforce within an organisation. The prime importance of such workforce is attained by an
organisation as completion of work on time through optimum utilisation of available resources.
This builds the strong base that help to reduce overall cost along with profitability of an
organisation (Shaw, 2016). In relation to the mine own practice of business management these
all will required for effective performance of functions along with completion in most ethical
manner. These will help to satisfy the requirements along with getting trust of others within
performed exercises at ground level.
According to me, ethical manager is the one who is able to take decisions that are morally
correct and does not have any kind of inappropriate effect over others. Here, manager has an
6

obligation to allocate the duties and responsibilities in accordance to the capabilities and position
of employee without any discrimination and biases. The qualities will be quite same as have by
ethical leader but the working of all is different because of the separate operative nature of
manager. This creates the difference in ethical manager as compared to the normal one that not
only follows organisational policies and standards but working on principles of honesty, fairness
and justice.
I noticed the unethical business practice within an organisation related to working hours
where some using loopholes of system to misguide management. Presentation regarding
handling of this situation as ethical manager is provided further. If, I am working as an ethical
manager then must focus over building the criterion that all will perform the activities with
honesty and fairness. I prefer to take the ground level meeting with the different departmental
employees to attain their feedback over presence of working nature within an organisation along
with their views upon new or potential policies and standards. This will provides me an
opportunity to remove all the conditions that creates the negative culture of working along
creation of new policies in accordance to the opinion of employees. The importance of same
ascertained at ground level in creating friendly working environment where all work together
and have trust over the functioning of manager. The completion of these exercises in effective
manner creates positive vibe in all departmental employees where they highly engage in their
workings and optimally utilise the resources. This will aid organisation to provide products and
services within the market on time and with appropriate quality. The another benefit that will be
attained is related to high brand image. This provides an opportunity to attract talented
candidates towards an organisation that are competent in nature to perform in diversified
conditions and accomplish desired targets. This ethical nature of mine while working as manager
within an organisation also persuades the behaviour of others that perform activities in ethical
manner and attain good opportunities within an organisations towards professional growth. The
acceptance of ethical behaviour by all help in creating high working standard where every work
is performed in fair manner that delivers optimum value to end consumers.
The number of different personal ethical values present in me includes honesty, justice
and fairness. The contribution of all will be helpful for me within an organisation while
performing any role either leader or manager (Mansouri and Rowney, 2014). This will provides
me an opportunity to deliver as per the standards of an organisation along with attainment of

higher professional growth beyond to the expectations. While working as leader, this will help
me to build effective team that able to perform integrally with others. The will also help me to
listen views of other and apply the strategies that are viable for all to drive better results. While
working as manager, ethical behaviour of mine help in creating positive working environment.
This will allows me to think beyond to the policies of an organisation and focus over accepting
conditions that are morally correct in nature. This will help to develop a culture where every one
follows the correct path and higher management change the policies in same direction.
The different aspects that will lead towards creating an unethical organisation is
concerning about their own opinions and views to carry on functioning. This hinders the ability
of other organisational employee's to use their knowledge and creativity in performing activities.
This creates the culture where no one have trust over each other and just performing to complete
work irrespective to thinking about quality and perfect utilisation of resources. This aspect
develops unethical organisation where no effective values are exist and everyone performs
without providing justice to their work. Even managers and leaders does not care about
improvement in such situations and just focus over usage of their power without consideration
over organisational goals (Tsalikis and Fritzsche, 2013).
The different values and methods which are must to present within an organisation or
comply by different personnels in creation of ethical environment within an organisation
includes work with honesty, consider the views of each other, provide support in functioning
each others work, work without any biases, using fair means to perform actions etc. All these
have effective contribution towards development of ethical organisation. The impact of these not
ascertained by an organisation but their adherence help to improve the personality of all
personnels that contributes in future towards the direction of attaining higher professional
growth.
The relation relation between ethical leader and manager is direct and proportionate to
each other. If manager performs ethically and leader not disseminates same to employees then
not possible to build ethical organisation. If thinking about different situation that leader is
ethical but manager is not then allocation is not done properly where direction of leader does not
have any value. Finally, this lead towards creation of unethical organisation. So, it is must that
both will be ethical in building an ethical organisation (Ciulla, 2013).

CONCLUSION
It has been concluded from the above report that business ethics is of importance in
nature. This will help to gain sustainability and competitive edge. The online gaming has some
options which are unethical in nature such as option of purchase feature in free games and greedy
options to gain more. These are considered unethical because misrepresentation of information
and creation of addictive nature of individual that drives in the direction of loss. It is must for an
organisation to have ethical leader and manager to build successful organisation.
